@henrywinter They should be at relegated to league 2.Their financial status reverted back to what it was before the cheating. Therefore having to get rid of players to actually stay within their financial limits.Any transfer money given to all teams participating in the prem in affected years.
Beyond extraordinary. Just unearthed from the attic by Major Harry Poat's nephew and a good friend of mine - a Nov 1945 letter from Lt.Col Blair 'Paddy' Mayne, wartime SAS commander, which encapsulates perfectly the spirit of the unit and it's unrivalled brotherhood, not to mention revealing the true nature of Paddy Mayne so perfectly. So moving. Please share widely (photo shows Mayne with his men, courtesy the Mayne family):
"Chelmsford
Nov 24th, 1945
My Dear Harry,
I am not very good at saying goodbye or in telling people how much I admire and like them, but I only started enjoying the S.A.S. on that day at Kabrit when yourself, Marsh and McDermott joined.
From them on it appeared to me that there were some decent people in the unit, people that were interested in the men and the regiment and not what they themselves could get out of it; and I may say that I wasn’t the only person to value that ever since then, ever since then it has given me great pleasure to notice and to see how popular and well respected you were by the men and the officers. If I hadn’t also respected and liked you I could easily have become most jealous.
It has been good fund since then and I have an awful lot to thank you for, your loyalty and ability are a byword in this Brigade.
Between us we commanded and fought in the nest disciplined, most pleasant and best scrapping unit in the British Army; that is something I shall never forget and I know that you won’t either.
I do wish I was properly able to thank you for all the help, assistance and friendship you have given me during the last few years.
Yours ever,
Paddy
PS. Looking this over it appears terribly stilted and doesn’t express half of what I want to say."
Profiteering at its maximum from #LaplandUK, we had to change our visit as our child went in hospital two days before and for the pleasure of rebooking we get charged £296 more and they can’t refund the difference despite them making millions in profit.
T’was the night before Christmas, Old Trafford was bare.
The staff all gone home, there was nobody there...
The lights cast a shadow, a soft glimmer which
Lit up the soft green grass on the pitch.
Bobby Charlton saw close friends die at Munich. He helped lead Manchester United's recovery to become English, then European champions. For decades the club's record goal and appearance holder, he was a World Cup winner and European player of the year too. What a life. RIP.
Rest in peace Sir Bobby Charlton.
A lad from the north east who fell in love with @ManUtd, survived the Munich Air Disaster and became the best player in the world.
He set records for club & country and won the World Cup & European Cup.
It was the greatest story in football.
