What does it look like when a YouTube video effectively supports a child’s learning about analyzing shapes? Sorting? Addition? We’ve logged a lot of hours watching YouTube and thinking about these questions!

New rule: all conferences must include multiple Lego-based sessions. Super fun + immediately got us talking while building. This task: create an obstacle course while eating breakfast 🏗. Kudos, @SRCDtweets#learnplay22
Loved getting to share our process for developing these hands-on #science assessments for 4 & 5 year olds at #learnplay22! Bonus: unlocked a new Parenting level by incorporating a video of my own adorable 4 yo doing 1 of the tasks with me. 🏗 Full report: https://t.co/nfuwtRvd87

For my 4-year-old, I watched his face go 🤯🤯🤯 over escalators, moving sidewalks, & all the PEOPLE in just our first 15 mins in an airport. It was a thrill & a bit heartbreaking to realize how many small novelties he’s missed in the last 2 years. 2022 resolution: more novelties!
I also recently flew for the 1st time since Before Covid, & this rang so true. About airport logistics: “[t]here was so much to take in — I felt as if I’d been watching the same show for two years and someone just changed the channel.”
Travel is not only an escape but also a search for novelty, Melissa Kirsch writes in our first Saturday edition of The Morning. https://t.co/A6lQI5i9TP
Harry Reid was such an example of how to be both tough as nails & kind. I’ll never forget when he stopped a Capitol tour group I was leading to ask about their visit & talk about what was happening in the Senate that week. That small kindness absolutely made their day.
We’re so excited to be leading evaluations of two mobile messaging programs intended to improve responsive caregiving, attitudes, knowledge & confidence of parents of young children. @elisa_b_g@SnixGerard@research_claire

As my 10yo got his @pfizer vaccine tonight he was nervous but kept whispering his (high risk) best friend’s name over and over. And I have zero regrets that my kid was scared and yet did something out of love for another person anyways.
