Parkinson’s disease affects nearly one million people in the U.S. and 8.5 million worldwide. Early and accurate diagnosis is challenging due to similarities with other neurological disorders, and available treatments can only manage symptoms, not offer a cure.
Today the FNIH is proud to announce the launch of the Accelerating Medicines Partnership® in Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders (AMP® PDRD). This public-private partnership aims to identify and validate biomarkers that will differentiate Parkinson’s disease from related disorders, leading to earlier diagnoses, more timely interventions, and better treatment options.
