Creator of Sqlite on pull requests: "You say, oh, it's free. No. It's not free. What you're doing is asking me ... to maintain it for you, to to document it for you, to test it for you, to maintain it for you for the next 25 years. That's not free." Yep.
Wise words from a wiser man than me. I've told people for the past decade and I have recent posts on here saying the same: the merge button is the easy part. Its the decade+ (Richard says 25 years) that follows where you've accepted the transfer of maintenance thats hard.
New Jersey school has required every freshman to hike 55 miles on the Appalachian Trail for 53 years straight.
At St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, this isn’t optional — it’s a mandatory 5-day rite of passage before becoming a sophomore.
Many students have never hiked or camped before. They train together in the spring, then get split into small teams where each kid gets a critical role: navigator, medic, cook, captain, etc. No one knows everything — they must rely on each other.
With minimal adult supervision, they hike rain or shine, facing blisters, sore muscles, and real challenges head-on. As one administrator put it: “The only way we can get through this is if we work together.”
The result? Teens who return more confident, resilient, and bonded — proving that real growth happens when you step away from screens and into the wilderness.
What an incredible tradition! Parents, educators, and anyone raising tough kids — this is gold.
Who else believes we need more experiences like this?

Using Omarchy for the past few months has been amazing... I can't remember the last time I was excited to download an update to an OPERATING SYSTEM?!? Updating is such a dreaded chore in every other OS, but I'm actually pumped to update for new Omarchy features every time I can!
Omarchy 3.8 is out! Reminders, weather, and easy access to set system-wide defaults for browser, terminal, and editor. No-encryption installs possible too. And a lovely integrated transcoding flow. Enjoy 👌 https://t.co/k1y6R1ODw6
Shoutout to @_howardjohn and the agentgateway team at https://t.co/GHLbCshVJU. Awesome project and I've never seen people respond to an OSS project like them.
You win the award for shortest Issue > PR > merge > release I've ever seen.
Downloaded this because it sounded too good to be true... Sure enough it had about an ~80% failure rate for me over my first 10 or so tries 😔 Where do I pick up my Porsche? 😅
We offered 5 people a Porsche 911 GT3 RS if they could get @WisprFlow to make a mistake

Love this demo! Playful and easy to understand, but shows a really powerful concept that I think we'll be seeing more and more of in production-grade systems at scale.
@TylerHilliard@DillonLoomis For what it's worth I upgraded to the 2 stage Ryobi from the single stage - which I found to be useless for New England snow. The 2 stage worked GREAT when it worked! But the fact that so many seem to end up broken for months in the dead of winter is a bit of a disqualifier.
@DillonLoomis I love the look of that autonomous Yarbo that's been going around, but 5k is too steep. Thinking I'll probably just have to shovel this winter, and hopefully ride out the Ryobi til it dies in another few years. Fingers crossed the autonomous options will have come down by then!
@DillonLoomis I have the exact same model, kicked the bucket last weekend, within warranty. Told it will be "Probably months" until they can get the replacement part. All reviews of the service center say the same - months without their snowblower, waiting for parts. Expensive lesson learned.
