Curt Cignetti shares a universal truth about habits and consequences.
"In life - you got freedom of choice, but not freedom of consequence."
"First you form your habits, then your habits form you."
Every choice and action you take compounds. The small decisions you make daily - preparation, work ethic, and how you respond - those become your habits.
And over time, those habits become your identity.
You're free to choose. But the consequences of those choices aren't optional.
Your habits are shaping who you become.

I asked HC @MitchellCanham how the adversity @BeaverBaseball has faced this season has prepared them for tomorrow's game.
His response says everything you need to know. The Beavers will be ready for Sunday.
"Every moment this year has accumulated to this game tomorrow and what's beyond. Every time there's hardship you have to look at it as a blessing....I walk away from the field today and ya it's a bummer we didn't get the job done today but at the same time the Lord has blessed us with another day to get up and play baseball and be around one another and that calms me."

FAILURE IS PART OF THE PROCESS
"Is anyone going to learn how to fail? It's okay to fail...
You don't learn as much from winning as you do from losing." (Tom Izzo)

“It’s not about me, it never will be about me. Whatever the team needs, whatever it is that night, I’ve got to do it and just help us win,” Derrick White
Good players want a starring role on the team.
Great players want to star in the role that the team needs.
“I don’t complain about playing time.
My job is to play so well that the coach can’t sit me.
If I wasn't going to make it - it wasn't going to be because my lack of attitude, my habits, and my energy.
I brought it every single day."
"I wake up worrying about what they think when they're 28 not when they are 18.
Are they going to say that I cared about them - enough to be hard on them and try to teach them right from wrong."
Holding someone accountable is something done for them NOT to them.
Geno Auriemma said, "We put a huge premium on body language."
"If your body language is bad, you will never get in the game. Ever."
Your body language screams.
It sets the tone for yourself and others.
Your posture, eye contact, and energy are always communicating something.
Be so TOUGH nothing rattles you.
Be so CONFIDENT you'll face any challenge.
Be so COMPETITIVE you refuse to lose.
Be so ENCOURAGING your teammates respect you.
Be so COACHABLE you're a joy to work with.
Be so RELIABLE we can't keep you off the court/field.

"The best teammates that I ever had - they showed up to work every day. I never had to worry about their effort or their attitude."
Eventually, what you choose to do becomes more important than what you are capable of doing.
Happy Thanksgiving! Here are six things to be thankful for as an athlete:
1. The opportunity to play sports.
2. Your coaches.
3. Your teammates.
4. Your fans.
5. Your family’s support.
6. Your physical and mental health.
The name on the front of your uniform stands for who you play for and the culture you represent.
The person who puts on that uniform is the one who brings it to life with their dedication, effort and heart.
Coaches have favorites.
But, it's not personal; it's performance based.
The players who work hard, stay focused, and consistently meet the standard are the ones who earn their opportunities.
Be that player, and you'll be the favorite too.
