According @JonAshworth, you can "improve air quality by pursuing measures like electric bus fleets and so on".
Buses generate 1% of U.K land transport emissions.
Jon, please tell us about the "so on" you recommend in lieu of proven measures like ULEZ?

Absolutely brilliant from @soundboy
Everyone should read this. So many insights in his essay but the standout is that such is the concern about the rate of progress even inside the organisations, they want politicians to step in.
What have we come to w this gig economy?
1. A building concierge refuses entry to a mortally ill man collapsed outside
2. An employer incessantly pings to demand delivery but fails to make a welfare call
3. A consumer steps over the mortally ill to get to their purchases 10/
@James_BG Been wondering the same. Conclusion I’ve come to is try to demand specifics with near term goals. Think ‘blah blah blah’ is the 100% correct response to vague distant pledges
@Ed_Miliband Distant net zero targets has jammed the COP discussion (which is helpful for political leaders who don’t want to be held to account for their words) https://t.co/JWhMJTVwp0
@LeoHickman Have heard a lot say they no longer pander to climate deniers but it feels they are getting played by new tactics of fossil companies: muddying the waters, can-kicking to distant targets, deflection onto individual action and itstoolate-ism.
Fair?
@KathrynAMurdoch Change of heart from the big man who not that long ago said “we should approach climate change with great scepticism” plus “we can’t stop it, just build houses a bit further back” 😳 https://t.co/XyQapfZHUk
@jloistf Number 3 - frequent flyer taxing - seems the path with the most potential for big and immediate impact given the urgency. Downsides seem harsh but worth accepting.
@David_Nunn Facts around warming or how some elements of media are doing the bidding for fossil cos? (BTW - interesting to see it’s same playbook as tobacco cos used)
This kind of crap is what’s blocking climate action. The Telegraph (the UK govt’s house title) pulling out its greatest hits of deflection, delay, distraction and scare-mongering with its climate coverage recently.
