Prison can be cruel & cold & callous, & not at the hands of the ones stuck here, but the ones who come here to work. Especially medical providers who often treat inmates with hostility, belittle their symptoms & delay necessary care. Living in pain is a struggle many inmates face
Many thanks to Triangle Mutual Aid for putting together this piece on our picket at the division of prisons headquarters in solidarity with those locked up at Bertie Correctional Institution: https://t.co/2q2yDqCgV7
Brandon Pickens had 180 days in segregation added to his sentence for an alleged infraction when a bunch of prison-crats decided to sentence him twice. Please make time to call NCDPS on his behalf this Monday and invite others to do so! Details here: https://t.co/XyevOb1nW3
There's a massive prison strike underway in Alabama today, perhaps system wide, but at very least across a number of facilities. Prisoners not doing trash collection, refusing kitchen work and more.
Prison rules are enforced selectively, depending on factors like inmate-staff relationships, staff's mood, convenience of the rule enforcement or whether the inmate is gang affiliated or not - often staff are reluctant to enforce rules on gang members in fear of repercussions.
Everyone, please keep spreading the word. This crisis isn't going to be resolved quickly. We are going to need some serious solidarity in the days and weeks ahead. #Solidarity#MutualAid
Prisoners at Turbeville CI in SC took over a unit after a pig chemically sprayed another imprisoned person. Pig sprayed him because he wasn’t moving fast enough. Black August flames went in the air building destroyed. Pigs from all over state had to be called in to regain order
Yuuuuuuuuuup! This is why, even though we organize with incarcerated people and are sponsored by a Lutheran Church, Solidarity Beyond the Walls is absolutely not, never has been, and never will be a "prison ministry."
Some prison ministry workers from churches are trying to determine if inmates are sincere in their faith or just faking for an advantage. But trust me, inmates are just as curious to determine if those Church volunteers are true in their faith and following the examples of Jesus.
Don't y'all just hate it when libs say they can't provide specific support around a mutual aid or social justice initiative because they "need more information about the situation" but don't ask any questions or say what info they'd need to be able to say yes?
2/2 Please call the prison at (252) 653-5501 today or tomorrow to tell them to stop abusing Joseph Stewart (Shine White) and please pass this message slo g on social media, text, Signal, etc.
1/2 Hi everyone, please make calls to Maury CI on behalf of Joseph "Shine White" Stewart if you can. The guards are denying him meals, showers, the ability to buy stamps, most of the mail that is sent to him, and took away his books.
Black August mutual aid: 100% goes to the inside to people that can’t afford the basic necessities. Every dollar counts no matter how small #blackaugust#HumanRights#WeAreHumansToo https://t.co/lOChpp6Tx0
