🤝 @UNFPA Somalia Representative, Mr. @jelidje , met with Mr. Chris Pycroft, @FCDOGovUK Development Director for #Somalia. He reaffirmed UNFPA’s appreciation for the UK’s continued support to Somalia.
The discussion explored more effective and innovative ways to leverage data to generate accurate population estimates and strengthen evidence-based planning, while maximizing available resources towards a possible future census.
The two sides also discussed the alignment of FCDO priorities with UNFPA Somalia’s 5th Country Programme (2026–2030), including opportunities to strengthen data systems through a hybrid approach to data collection that combines traditional census methods with innovative digital and administrative data sources.
As Somalia’s data needs continue to evolve, stronger partnerships and smarter use of data will be critical to informing policies, targeting resources and ensuring that no one is left behind.
