@umutcagrisariii Come Let Us Calculate Who Benefits More:
You keep telling the Somalis that you have given them aid, scholarships, military training, infrastructure, security, and jobs. That's enough. Please come and join us. Let us lay the facts out and work out what Turkey has given Somalia and what Somalia has given to Turkey.
The Somalia has given the Albayrak Group from Türkiye a concession of 20 years for the operation of Mogadishu's principal commercial port, which is the main gateway for a large part of the country's international cargo. Favori from Türkiye is in charge of Aden Adde International Airport and its ground handling services.
Somalia granted Turkish Petroleum access to major oil and gas exploration areas and gave Türkiye's OYAK and SOMTURK a significant role in fisheries licensing within Somalia's Exclusive Economic Zone, thereby opening some of Africa's richest fishing grounds to Turkish ships.
Turkey has its largest overseas military training facility in Somalia, which gives Ankara strategic access throughout the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean.
We are providing Türkiye with land on which to build a spaceport. Because Somalia is near the equator and has an open coastline along the Indian Ocean, Türkiye will be able to launch satellites independently and will have a strategic access point to space, something that very few countries can provide.
Turkey also made Somalia a major market for food, building materials, machinery, textiles, furniture, medicines, and all other manufactured products.
In addition, Somalia provided Türkiye with a foothold in Africa. Having previously had a very limited presence on the continent, it was Somalia that opened the way. We welcomed Türkiye while many other countries did not.
This trust and access enabled Türkiye to rebuild its reputation, extend its influence, and become active throughout Africa. It was Somalia that made it possible for Türkiye to return to African geopolitics and position itself as a noticeable player on the continent.
Turkey offered aid and scholarships, while Somalia supplied its national assets, markets, resources, contracts, maritime access, military reach, the gateway to Africa, and is now providing a route to space.
Put all the facts on the table and assess them fairly. Turkey is not carrying out a charitable act, it is pursuing long-term national interests, and it might be deriving the greater strategic benefit.
Somalia is your partner, not something you are supposed to be charitable towards. Don't speak as if Turkey gives everything and Somalia gives nothing.
One more point: don't insult Somali intellectual women in front of us. Even if you disagree with their political opinions, you should still speak to them with respect.
