@caryatis I think it is more natural to say that people supported whatever policies they did in fact actually support (even if this includes contradictory and changing policies over time), and not the ones they might have hypothetically supported had conditions been otherwise.
@caryatis If people reliably support tolerance when they're a minority and oppression when they're numerous, then you might equally say that persecutors don't *really* support persecution either: Everyone's position is downstream of their social position, and no one truly supports anything
@caryatis In particular, a supported policy implies the choice between policies, and it seems likely that martyrs would prefer freedom of conscience when the alternative is martyrdom.
@RosieCampbell@FeralPHunter I'd consider it very strongly if you want to refer me 😉
Do you have any aristotelians over there? Seems pretty important and potentially underexplored
Someone at vc5 ran "folky songshare skillshare", where we all sang together in rounds and call & response. It was great! She said there are events/meetups just for doing this.
Does anyone know what these are called? I really want to go to one of these group folk singing events!
@sparr0 I'm in NYC for now but happy to drive to one in the woods somewhere.
I'd love suggestions if you have them! But I was more wondering if there was a generic name for "big folk music campout in the woods" that I could search with. (Assuming this is a thing that happens)
@grep_cat_ Dang, I didn't realize at all! It was good to run into you as the ghost. I would have liked to talk if you were able to, but thanks for saying hi!
