I said goodbye to a patient a few years ago. She didn’t die, she just got old. I treat patients to age 21 and they move on. When they do, I joke, “well, I did my job! I kept you alive until adulthood!”
With this kid, it was not a joke. 1/
@Politidope It's almost impossible to believe he exists. It's as if we took everything that was bad about America, scraped it up off the floor, wrapped it all up in an old hot dog skin, and then taught it to make noises with its face.
Insulin was invented a century ago and costs $10 to make, but drug companies gouge families for it, even charging over $1,000.
42 GOP senators just voted with Big Pharma to force Americans to pay more than $35 for insulin.
They chose corporate welfare over the middle class.
Something huge happened today. DeSantis announced he was suspending Tampa’s Dem prosecutor who opposes criminalizing abortion and trans youth, & replaced him with a conservative. (This is a county DeSantis lost, by the way.)
A stunning overthrow. https://t.co/1GoeUM8JVG
In other big news: 4 current and former Louisville Metro PD officers involved in the deadly raid on Breonna Taylor’s home have been arrested&charged w/ civil rights offenses, unlawful conspiracies, unconstitutional use of force and obstruction offenses, Merrick Garland announces
That being said, Reproductive Rights is a winning issue. People do not think government should control peoples' bodies. A little confirmation bias, for YEARS I have been telling people to run on Reproductive Rights. I think the Kansas results are showing it.
4. In response to a request for comment, @Twitter initially described its donation to @RepublicanAGs as dues it pays to the org every year.
When we pointed out there was no prior record of Twitter donations to @RepublicanAGs, @Twitter acknowledged it was its first year donating
A GOP strategist in KS warns this is "a big deal"
"There were no major contested Democratic primaries to drive turnout & the amendment still failed resoundingly. If Republicans think the issue of abortion isn't on the minds of voters tonight's results should put them on notice"
You truly love to see it.
The biggest possible shout-out to everyone who volunteered, organized, texted, phone banked, yard-signed, and otherwise rabble-roused to make this happen.
The biggest county in Kansas, Johnson, just dropped most of its votes, and the Value Them Both amendment is now failing statewide 66–34%. That margin should tighten, but it will be hard for the amendment to pass at this point.
ALERT: We have firsthand reports that anti-abortion activists posing as election workers in @SedgwickCounty are turning away legitimate voters who mark that they’re felons on a fake questionnaire.
FELONS ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE if they’ve completed the terms of their sentence #ksleg
In Kansas, a measure on the ballot this August would amend the state Constitution to clarify that it does not protect the right to abortion, overturning a decision by the state Supreme Court. @Kansans4Freedom are fighting back—chip in if you can: https://t.co/Krm1s9rIuA
They screamed that wearing a piece of cloth on their faces at the grocery store violated their bodily autonomy but they want us to incubate a human for 9 months and then birth it and be cool with it.
