To the many attending church undergoing an abuse lawsuit: peek behind the curtain of how they REALLY treat the vulnerable. Is this church in #Smithtown handling the lawsuit well? One of their defenses is that a 5,6,7 y/o did not do enough to protect herself from their pastor.

@LaMonsterMom Yup. While in #YWAM I was told that my giant chunky literal men's-section sweatpants and hoodie makes men think of me in bed and then therefore sex. So sweats were not allowed. Tight jeans were fine though. 🙄

I'm so tired of wishing people would listen. 6 years ago, crimes by a former pastor at #SmithtownGospelTabernacle were disclosed to leadership. Still virtually no one has had to answer for it except me (the child). Somehow people know this and still attend this church...

To me, only 2 scenarios make sense 1. Church leadership has no input on how the church is being represented (and are therefore being further negligent…) Or 2. They are well aware of what the lawyers are arguing as their defense… and that’s just sick.

Lawsuit’s been dragging 4 years. Some leaders say they “wash their hands” of this or “give it to God”. When confronted more seriously, some pastors say, “well… that’s not OUR heart” 😒 THIS IS YOUR HEART if you stand by silently with this as your representation.

Same cycle, beyond #sbc - Light was brought to darkness at a #LongIsland #nondenom #megachurch and now I see what/who I am dealing with. Wish others saw too. Tried to give the church the benefit of the doubt... but they are inflicting almost as much pain as the abuse itself.

The report confirmed abuse, brought light to darkness, and put a spotlight on hearts of stone who lash out at the wounded. Though sad and disgusting; we now know what we are dealing with… who we are dealing with… and the direction we need to go. #clarity #sbc

Absolutely true! Yoga was suggested to me so much... so one college semester I took it for gym. Triggered the hell out of me. Panic attacks before, during and after every class... i had to drop it for my mental health. Ends up the simple act of laying down was the trigger. 🤷‍♀️

The only MUST in healing from trauma, is you feeling safe. What works for you, can be triggering for others. What helps others most, can fall flat for you. We are each uniquely made, and what we need to heal will vary. If someone has a quick fix for you, they are not seeing you.

@LoriK2point0 Yes... summer in itself is a trigger. Whenever it first starts getting warm it gets pretty rough for me. It may even out a bit as the summer goes but not always.
