I often wonder how much of our precious wildlife is indiscriminately killed on our roads.
Accurately logging everything would be nigh on impossible but if you do see a carcass it would be great if you could take a minute to log it here.
P.S. 6000 reported in 2025, and 200 last wk
The weekly #roadkillreport is out! We received 200 reports last week, with the most common report being pheasants. We received 2 unusual reports, a pine marten and a collared dove. Thank you to everyone who submitted reports this week.

I scarcely post on here these days, but here’s a few photos taken from my garden, ( in the city of York)
Give it a suitable habitat home and it will come…..
@TonyJuniper We all of us, have a choice between action and in inaction.
Though I am convinced that IF we truly want to help the survival of these and other species and are prepared to look openly and objectively at the challenge of the situation that the necessary measures will be clear.

Two close encounters.
Working in the garden after tea, bent over & looking down with head about 4 ft from the ground only to see a sparrow hawk fly under my nose in pursuit of a blackbird! Then walking to the polling station I saw a barn owl and called it in to within 20 feet.
@des_farrand Yes, saw one pop up a few years back during a very dry summer. It popped up and was on the surface trying to get back underground but couldn’t break the sun baked surface, so I grabbed a spade and broke the surface to help. It worked and it went back on its way.
