The voice, the presence, the way he casually takes over the entire stage while still being completely lovable… It’s pure Candy magic. Watching him try to do a “magic trick” while staying fully in character as the pompous, larger-than-life Welles is comedy gold.
I’ve always thought Candy was one of the most naturally gifted comedic actors of his generation. He could do broad physical comedy and still make you believe every second of it. This sketch is a perfect example — short, sharp, and completely committed. One of those hidden gems that still makes me laugh out loud every time I rewatch it.
