Platner voting for Collins several times might, y'know, get in the way of attempts to criticize her votes.
Hell, his "She sent me to war" line flopped because everyone kept pointing out he enlisted well-after her Iraq War vote.
Jennifer Welch on Graham Platner: “Everyone’s talking about toxic relationships and tattoos and all of this shit. Talk about Susan Collins voting to dismantle protections that keep women safe and keep women free because that is the real story here. She is a MAGA fascist to her core. I don’t give a fuck if somebody had a toxic relationship. I myself have been a toxic girlfriend, I’ve had toxic boyfriends. That’s part of the human experience”
You can see some of this in my own trajectory. Immediately after Mills suspended, I said: "I'm just going ignore this race." Then, in the next days, if you think about my behavior, I switched to panic. I kept saying, "Quarantine the race," by which I meant: Keep every other Democrat away from this race.
Why did I switch from "I'll ignore" to "QUARANTINE IT!"? I'd heard "domestic violence." I'd heard "domestic violence" and then I saw Tim Walz announce, "I'm going to Maine to campaign with Graham Platner!" So I went all over Democratic politicians' feeds like a little freak and said, "Don't go; Don't tie yourself to this."
That's when I'd just heard "domestic violence." Then I started hearing something else. That not only were there allegations of domestic violence, but ALSO the GOP was sitting on these allegations (& perhaps some others) & was planning to tie the whole Democratic party to the scandal.
So I switched my behavior again. I went from "I'll stay quiet" to "QUARANTINE THIS" to, well, "I'm going to try to take this guy down using any means available to me." Maybe that's not what you would have done. And it wasn't an easy conclusion for me to reach. I researched everything I could about Platner. I tried to create press incentives for negative reporting on him. I tried to shake every tree I could. To get the truth out and beat Republicans to the punch.
So, yes, I can confirm: The Republicans wanted control over this narrative. They wanted this info out in the Fall. I heard this from multiple credible people. It's 100% why I have behaved the way I did.
Lyndsey Fifield as an individual is obviously not a part of this Republican plan, at least not now. Maybe the GOP does have her story or maybe they have someone else's, but the thing about Fifield is: She went to journalists.
She went to journalists *even though* she is a Republican. *I* wanted the truth out AND I wanted to protect the Democratic party. Ms. Fifield put herself out on a line for the truth and the truth alone. Have some respect.
More stories will come out.
Exactly. Let me elucidate this further. Republicans DID have dirt on Platner & WERE planning for a Fall release. They wanted to wait until after the primary. Not only that, they wanted the story to dominate the news right before the elections. Platner was their "ace in the hole."
Let's be very clear here: if Lyndsey Fifield was lying and wanted to help Susan Collins win reelection, she wouldn't say a word about her experience with Graham Platner right now.
She'd wait until the Fall to speak up ... not before the Democratic primary, when Democratic voters could still dump him for a safer nominee.
@selfstyldpundit@TVietor08@krystalball "It's Mills's fault we propped up the Nazi tattoo guy with all these scandals!" can't possibly fail as a defense.
Just ask Tommy... once he's done crying about how vouching for Platner makes him look bad.
@TVietor08 You do a lot of lecturing for someone who repeatedly vouched for the guy with a Nazi tattoo and a host of other scandals.
Maybe you should make like you did yesterday when the latest scandal erupted and sit this one out.
@FlyinMackenzie In other words, you don't want people pointing out how wrong you were to make excuses for Platner for months on end.
Your completely destroyed credibility would, after all, make it rather difficult for you to self-righteously lecture others on, well, anything else.
Also check in on the Platner champions who have suddenly gone quiet on Maine. Maybe some of them took my advice. Maybe others have known all along. We'll see.
A dangerous flesh-eating maggot has been discovered in a Texas cattle herd.
The pest’s spread has already skyrocketed beef prices to record highs and could cost American ranchers billions in lost cattle.
@TheStefanSmith@Coolgirlk22 Biden is so historically unpopular that *checks notes* he gets a warm reception literally everywhere he goes and multiple polls have people saying things (e.g. the economy, prices) were better when he was President.
Seems like now is the perfect time for a book to come out.
@TheStefanSmith@ChrisDJackson No, you're thinking of Tapper and Thompson's book last year, what with CNN's ratings collapsing after Trump won and never recovering.
And the Dimwitted Duo's book ended up being a huge failure, anyway, despite all that free promotion from their media buddies. Oh well.
@TheStefanSmith In other words, the "Isn't it outrageous the Bidens are settling scores?" caterwauling isn't landing with people in the real world (due to important things like price increases and the ongoing Iran war), so Stefan is trying to shift gears by accusing the Bidens of needing money.
Platner supporters a few days ago: "Look, this latest scandal isn't a big deal. It will fade in a few days. No one will care about this."
Platner supporters today: "
