@yourcroydon just came off my bike thanks to a massive pothole on Purley way. So glad I changed my plans & my daughter wasn't on my bike, she wouldnt have enjoyed a flip over the handle bars. So dangerous. Bike now ruined and I have to get the courage up to cycle with her again.

@Alexlebrit I have no doubt that this is true because the political will to change is small. I am very keen to see how a generation behind us will view the trade offs. Congestion will (in my view) be the cause of change. Not the environment or cost. A prediction based on nothing. A hope.

We should not be anticipating people owning their own personal transport in 2030.

We should reposition public transport, shared transport and single person transport options as the norm.

We should end our romantic addiction to cars as they exist currently.

If Johnson brings forward the ban on sales of petrol and diesel cars to 2030, then we need loads of investment in electric public transport and safe conditions for walking and cycling for local journeys. We can’t just replace existing ICE cars with EVs.

I guess today I was the lucky person who thought riding a bike was a reasonable thing to do. I just got deliberately knocked down by a van. Because I was in the way.

How do we make people care enough to not drive vans into human beings. Seems a reasonable standard.

They are infinitely safer than cars for third parties.
They are faster than current urban traffic.
They are cheaper than cars and most bikes

They can be taken into buildings more easily than bikes.
They can be taken into public transport more easily
They are lighter than bikes to carry
You don't need to change clothes (sweating)
They take up a tiny amount of road space
They facilitate public transport mixes
