I feel like the next two years are going to be very important. We need to collectively fight to stop the corporatization of our universities and I’m so inspired by the solidarity across academic unions to save “#HigherEducation#OnLab
Can’t help but wonder if student enrolment challenges are in any way related to the reputations of universities with hostile relations with their unions - the employees who actually teach the students. Parents have been been paying attention the last few years.
Those pulling out of capital pride because of a true statement by the capital pride org in which they deem risky or inappropriate or whatever, have forgotten that pride parades back in the day were deemed risky, inappropriate or whatever by the same pulling out.
Frustrating to see local politicians and large orgs like @CHEO claiming to speak on behalf of the Jewish community in relation to the Pride statement when really they're only speaking to some Jews.
I'm a Jew in solidarity with Palestine who will be attending Capital Pride.
Our transit system is crumbling, the cost of housing is out of control in this city and many people are without the critical services that they need yet our Mayor in the past two months has been laser-focused on *checks notes* getting us direct flights to London?
From me and @CAPE_ACEP president Nate Prier in @OttawaCitizen on how forcing public servants back to the office isn't the solution to our transit crisis and how @_MarkSutcliffe and @fordnation need to stop blaming them for their own failings in leadership:

This is one of the government offices that @AnitaAnandMP has irresponsibly mandated public service workers to report to for 3 days a week.
It has "possible asbestos disturbance."
Folks are also encouraged to continue sending emails to their councillors using the email tool below that sends an email to your councillor and the mayor demanding they call on Bylaw to drop these ridiculous fines for using megaphones at a protest.

Multiple organizations have put a callout to support folks who have been ticketed by contributing to the legal defence fund which you can do by checking the graphic below.
The @OttawaBylaw officer in the video says that knocking on someone's backdoor to issue a ticket at 10 o'clock at night is "routine."
How is this "equitable and consistent" application of the law like Roger Chapman, head of Bylaw keeps claiming?
In more unacceptable behaviour from @OttawaBylaw instead of issuing tickets for using a megaphone on the spot, theyre now doing late night visits, seemingly in an attempt to intimidate Palestine solidarity activists.
My friend Tom was issued a ticket at his home at 10 PM...
🚨TAKE ACTION
Last week, @OttawaBylaw unjustly fined three protesters for simply using megaphones $500 apiece in a clear attempt to silence our movement.
Use the link below to send an email to your councillor and the mayor demanding they drop the fines: https://t.co/uAfNRi35EB
Folks have been asking how they can take action against unjust fines given to Palestine solidarity protesters for simply using a megaphone - find below an easy-to-use tool where you can send an email to your councillor and @_MarkSutcliffe in just one click.
We won't be silenced.
