Yesterday 3 Unit had a ducks in distress call. L121crew found 10 ducklings fell through a storm sewer grate. FF Essick entered the manhole while FFs DuBeck, Pershing & Lt Reasoner worked to run them to a point of rescue. All 10 babies were reunited with a very worried momma duck.

2 Unit had a surprise visitor tonight at the firehouse......a stowaway possum they found hiding behind one of the SCBA seats inside the cab of L121! Don't worry - no animals were harmed in the making of this video. Our new friend was set free in the field behind the station.

We're hosting a drive-thru celebration to honor Chief Hoovler on his upcoming #retirement. Load up the car & drive through our apparatus bay on July 23 & 24 from noon to 2pm to congratulate him on his 25+ year career as our Fire Chief and wish him farewell.

This morning, Chief Hoovler was given a #proclamation from Ohio Representative @mary_lightbody in recognition of his 26 years of service to the residents of @newalbanyohio and @plaintownshipoh. He was hired as Fire Chief in October of 1994, and is retiring in 2 weeks on July 24.

1 Unit #roperescue training. Crews used various lifting & lowering systems to rescue our hose dummy from a tree. This drill tested proficiency w/ an MPD, pickoff strap, load-releasing hitch, brake rack, & 3:1 Z-drag. Thanks @TucsonFireDept for the YouTube video to make the dummy.

Quick response & creative hose deployment by 2 Unit crews this evening kept this gas grill fire on Richmond Sq. out of the structure. Engineer threw a ground ladder to the B-side patio wall like a ship's plank for easy access to the fire. No injuries to firefighters or civilians.
