@ZacharyDecker15 Brisk walks are an excellent way to combat the stress of a heavy workload. Time management skills, such as scheduling tasks when you are most alert, and merging tasks can provide more time for self-care and friendship building. Visualize your goals, you got this! #HKR1000
MoodCheck and course content reveal the relationship between my moods and daily tasks. Self-care activities, like pool, improve mood and increase efficacy when tackling subsequent unpleasant tasks. Breaks are productive, and self-care is a necessity, not a luxury. #HKR1000
@Ali_A_mun Not necessarily, as the book provides ample evidence of countless who had potential and talent yet received little to no credit. Quotas give jobs to thousands of Canadians, help protect our identity, and keep money invested within our nation, which is essential. #MUS2011F20
@FowlowLuke Fortunately, we can listen to a wider scope through Spotify, or plethora of other means. I think the bases of the quota is to promote “local” exposure, and give a voice to the talent and culture across Canada, to prevent Canadians from becoming “Americanized” etc. #MUS2011F20
Through cultural imperialism, media moguls impose and attempt to influence values. Our quota for Canadian content can combat influence, but I believe this tactic is more of a means to keep Canadians investing and consuming within our own economy versus another’s. #MUS2011F20
@ItsJustZev Cost and accessibility have crept into all aspects of life, not just music. Remember blockbuster? Some do it for love, but most of the music industry must follow the money and right now that is virtual. How is Covid-19 affecting cover bands, now that we cant get out? #MUS2011F20
@BKrilow While there is a surplus of rubbish cover bands, there are exceptions. For example, Gary Mullen & The Works’ tribute to Queen. Although our idols cannot be perfectly replicated, there are quality cover bands that honour our favourite artists in a new way. #MUS2011F20
@cassidypollard6 I'm in agreement. Just as we would teach sexual health education, or etiquette, we need to teach youth about mental health and healthy coping strategies. Our society is responsible for destigmatizing mental health, rewriting the "toughen up" mentality, and making changes.#HKR1000
https://t.co/30ZAo1a7MK Covid-19 steadily challenges the world, particularly affecting teenager's emotional and interpersonal wellness. We have a duty to support humanity’s greatest asset, youth, while addressing rising mental issues, to ensure generational well-being.#HKR1000
#MUS2011F20 I disagree! Purists despise deviation from the norm. Akin to movies and books, records and live covers are simply two options to consume two versions of the same medium. Fans simply pursue both avenues of entertainment, both having unique merits.
@SMusic2011 Elvis Presley exemplifies plagiarism. When you listen to “All Shook Up” do you think of Otis Blackwell? Probably not. Yet this, and previous generations, adore, if not worship, Elvis. Why are we so accepting of some types of Schlock and so critical of others? #MUS2011F20
@dibakermun Without the originals, we wouldn’t have had the covers. Without the covers, the originals might have drifted away, never making their way into the history books. Love it or hate it, in music, cultural theft was a symbiotic relationship. #MUS2011F20
#MUS2011F20 Boone wasn’t an outlier; whites were guilty of “cultural theft” long before this incident. Some were critical, others made him the second-biggest artist of the 50s. As bittersweet as it is, these “Schlock” covers helped us discover the talent behind the curtains.
@jennacgrant Some are born with immense talent, but pursuit escapes them. Others are born with little ability, but work tirelessly to achieve proficiency. The mix of the two is when the magic happens, and we can truly see someone in their element. Boy, is it ever something to see! #MUS2011F20
@dibakermun Interesting Daniella! So, you believe it was a “Luck of the draw” situation when he incorporated a “breaking voice” into his works? Imagine how his sound would have developed if he had focused on playing his clarinet or trumpet over the piano, “just because!” #MUS2011F20
@JohnDal17915782 Appealing, affordable, and accessible! With the cost of living exacerbated by Covid-19, it’s unlikely one can afford three balanced meals. Ten packs of instant ramen equates to about 1lb of broccoli which demonstrates that healthy living is not only about choice. #HKR1000
#HKR1000 An average score of 90.89% in “safety” versus 56.8% in “nutrition” helps conclude that the class prioritizes the avoidance of immediate danger but struggles to prevent the long-term impacts of poor diet. This makes sense as accidents are the #1 cause of death for youth.
Being the genius genre-bender he was, I believe Ray Charles used a melismatic touch to fuse gospel into R&B, not only to create shock appeal, given the juxtaposition of song lyrics and techniques, but to also add to his fun and wild unique style. #MUS2011F20
@HVLEYSLVTER Music is such a focal point across all cultures and to be able to have such a tool to freely navigate it all is wonderful. I'm glad we're no longer bound by what records our parents owned, or the luck of the draw when it comes to the radio. It has certainly increased diversity!
@therealnevr It's becoming much more accessible to create music and get your sounds out there. On the flip side users have so many choices to navigate that an artist can be popular one week and gone the next. The flood of availability has lots of pros and cons to consider! #MUS2011F20
