The fact that China and North Korea control their immigration a lot better than Japan, South Korea and Taiwan should tell you something. And no, it's not because the latter three are wealthier so attract more immigrants.

Because if that were the case, then you're just implying that rich countries somehow lack any agency or desire to control said immigration despite having the resources and capacity to become rich and this is clearly blatantly false given that mass immigration has little support with the native working classes anywhere in the developed world outside of the elites who benefit from it.

It is simply absurd to think that rich countries lose more agency the moment they become rich because then if what you say is true, then being a rich country is actually a bad thing and countries should stop trying to become rich!

The fact is in developed capitalist countries whether in the West or East, the capitalists are national traitors while China and North Korea are run by patriotic communists.
