Five synced ECs on the same Ethereum mainnet:
Erigon: ~509 GB
Ethrex: ~598 GB
Nethermind: ~1,225 GB
Besu: ~1,261 GB
Geth: ~1,688 GB
3.3× spread, driven by retention architecture. Numbers are upper bounds (hosts rebuilt in 7-16 days). And disk is only half of it.
Governance Update 🗳️
The Graph Foundation welcomes Marc-André Dumas (@marcandu) as the newest member of The Graph Council.
Marc-André brings deep technical expertise and a decade of building mission-critical infrastructure, from Senior Integration Specialist at @MakerDAO, to Technical Lead at @ChronicleLabs, to Founder of @ellipfra, a web3 and blockchain infrastructure company.
His perspective will strengthen governance, treasury stewardship, and long-term ecosystem growth.

Jim’s presence was something special - smart, welcoming, and thoughtful. I met him at @graphprotocol Mission Control, and I’ll carry that memory with me. RIP.
Friends, i have some terrible news.
Jim Cousins (@jimwavefive) passed away earlier this week.
A small number of his close friends, myself included, found out this evening. As did his family.
I personally chatted with Jim more or less daily. He missed our usual biweekly call some days ago, and then didn't return my messages all week. He was always a focused, disciplined and super busy guy. But this silence was very out of character for him.
As the days passed, I became increasingly worried for him. Today I reached out to others who had been feeling the same, and we arranged for someone to check on him.
Jim was well-loved, widely respected, and deeply connected. I can only imagine there are others out there right now who are worried by his absence. While I know that some people may have preferred to give this some time, I believe Jim would have wanted to spare his friends the uncertainty.
I’m not especially active here and I’m not part of every circle Jim built over the years. Please share this message in the hope that it reaches someone who has been left wondering, as i was.
The truth hurts, a lot. But being left in the dark can hurt just as much.
GRT is now a Cross-Chain Token (CCT)!
This enables secure cross-chain transfers between Arbitrum, Base, and Avalanche (with Solana coming in phase 2), powered by @chainlink CCIP, making The Graph network more accessible across the ecosystems where builders are building.
More accessibility = more adoption.
This is just the start of the conversation.

What if we split the stack into layers?
1️⃣ Indexing → consensus-verified compute
2️⃣ Storage → sealed + replicated data
3️⃣ Queries → demand-driven competition
Less waste, stronger guarantees, and a query-first economy.

Privacy in crypto shouldn’t be an afterthought.
@namada is now live with cross-chain shielding on mainnet — you can shield assets like USDC and others for real privacy across chains.

🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
(for Ethereum and @gnosischain node operators)
-ERIGON DO NOT SUPPORT PECTRA IN ERIGON 2
-MIGRATION TO ERIGON 3 FOR PECTRA IS MANDATORY
Full note:
Despite our previous intention, we've decided not to support Pectra in Erigon 2. Most on the recent Pectra testing was done with Erigon 3, so we cannot guarantee that Pectra works correctly in Erigon 2. That means that all users of Erigon must upgrade to Erigon 3 before Pectra happens on Ethereum mainnet (tentatively 30 Apr) and Gnosis Chain (Polygon is already officially supported only in Erigon 3).
Important: Migrating to Erigon v3 As we transition to Erigon v3, please note the following key changes and important considerations:Migration of existing v2 Data: Erigon v3 is not compatible with the Erigon v2 data. A full re-sync from scratch with an empty --datadir is required.
New Pruning Mode: The new --prune.mode flag replaces previous pruning options and supports three modes:
archive: Keeps all historical data.
full (default): Keeps recent state and blocks.
minimal: Keeps only the minimum data required for validators.
External CL/Beacon Node Configuration: By default, Erigon v3 includes an embedded beacon node called Caplin. If you wish to connect to an external consensus layer (CL) client such as Lighthouse, Nimbus, or Prysm, you must use the --externalcl flag.
(Note: In Erigon v2, the embedded CL was only enabled with --internalcl. This flag no longer exists.)
Running a Validator with Caplin: To run a validator with Caplin, you must use a separate validator client (e.g., lighthouse vc) to manage validator keys and submit attestations. Caplin only runs the beacon node and doesn’t manage keys.
Fast Sync with Snapshots: Erigon v3 introduces a fast state sync using a new snapshot format called Ottersync. It significantly reduces sync time and no longer requires downloading all historical blocks to reach the chain tip. It works both for archive and full nodes.
System Requirements: A minimum of 16 GB RAM is required for syncing. 64 GB RAM is strongly recommended for stable and efficient performance.
