The cost of having kids has gotten so ridiculous, but every time a mom says it out loud people immediately start auditing her entire life.
“Buy cheaper diapers.”
“Breastfeed.”
“Use cloth diapers.”
“Why do you drive that car?”
“Why didn’t you plan better?”
Okay. Some of that advice can be true in certain situations. Store brands can help. Budgeting is important. People should be realistic before having kids.
But diapers and formula should not feel like a luxury purchase.
A basic baby supply run being close to $100 is insane. And acting like every parent struggling with that is just irresponsible is lazy.
Most families are not trying to live some extravagant life. They are trying to buy diapers, feed their baby, pay the mortgage or rent, keep gas in the car, and not feel like they are drowning every week.
We cannot keep asking why people are having fewer kids while also pretending the cost of raising them is no big deal.
The Reflecting Pool is a perfect metaphor for the Trump administration:
- Ignore experts and science
- Overspend
- Declare early, historic victory
- "THE LEFT HATE THIS"
- Ends in total failure
- Unfounded conspiracies about sabotage
- MAGA pretends it doesn't actually matter
Jerry’s new girlfriend gets him courtside, but she turns out to be a Spurs fan.
George can’t watch the game because Frank insists on watching the Yankees.
Elaine pretends to be Mariska Hargitay to get into Dolan’s box.
Kramer hosts an illegal viewing party outside of MSG.
Seinfeld episode 2026: Jerry gets tickets courtside and brings George, who decides, with the Knicks down 20 with 10 minutes left, he will leave the game early to beat the rush out of MSG.
As the Knicks mount a comeback he tries to get back into the Garden. He waves his ticket, name drops James Dolan, but nothing works and he ends up getting arrested.
Meantime, Kramer sneaks into the Garden and helps Mike Brown draw up the game winning play.
On Mother’s Day I know it’s traditional to post the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary punching the Devil, but this year I hope people don’t forget about the cool manuscript illumination where she has an angel babysit Jesus while she wrestles a demon and makes him cry “uncle”.
Disney needs a dueling piano bar themed to the Sherman Brothers and yes, I already know the logistical nightmare that would be trying to fit “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” into a request battle at midnight. I know. But imagine the chaos of two pianists aggressively transitioning from “Feed the Birds” into “Tiki Tiki Tiki Room” while a grown man in an Orange Bird shirt cries into an overpriced old fashioned.
This is not a judgment on the original poster, but I don’t think people realize how astoundingly, shockingly, amazingly overworked and underfunded the average Catholic priest is.
Not only that, but I was at one, Parish that was doing borderline psychotic things at mass.
Could I have just ran in and changed everything overnight and forced compliance?
Yes
What I did do was slowly built a relationship of trust through hard work, sacrifice, good teaching, and good example.
Over the seven years that I moved that Parish from some sort of abomination to an actual Roman Catholic mass, my biggest fight was from the TLM Community down the road.
They literally posted constantly about what a mess my Church was. The pastor publicly mocked it, they did all sorts of awful things. Members of that community would come onto our public YouTube feed and tell people how awful we were.
Now, it’s many years later, and if you go back to that Parrish, they still have kneelers and statues, the Blessed Sacrament front and center, the people are saying the Roman Catholic Creed, and reading the proper readings, all of these beautiful things that happened because I was patient.
Slowly bringing people into conversion is always better than imposing.
At the end of the day Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge instead of resting in God’s love and goodness. We do the same when we focus on the occult, even when it’s with the intent of being. Informed.
Incredibly well written piece.
I did not write this to be contentious, but to help those who are vulnerable to darkness. Jesus, Light of the World, be our rescue, our respite, our joy.

Pope Leo is not “left” or “right.” The Catholic tradition of thought does not fit within the stunted and myopic categories of American politics born out of 90s talk radio.
Nothing the Pope is saying is actually woke, by the way. It’s all in line with boilerplate Catholic Social Teaching that’s been in practice since at least the 19th century. American Christianity, including Catholicism, has just gone so completely off the rails it sounds radical.
🚨 let me explain what just happened..
TSA workers .. the people who screen your luggage at airports.. stopped getting paid because Congress couldn't pass funding..
today Trump signed an executive order to fix it.. problem solved.. hero moment..
except..
Congress didn't go rogue.. his party controls it.. the funding stalled because of chaos in his own house.. TSA workers went without pay because of a problem he had the power to prevent..
and he had the power to sign this executive order the entire time..
in 2019, Trump's government shutdown lasted 35 days.. TSA workers called in sick in record numbers.. airports descended into a state of utter confusion.. security lines collapsed.. he eventually ended it the same way.. an executive order..
same playbook.. different year..
create the emergency.. let people suffer through it.. sign the paper.. take the credit..
Somewhere a TSA agent is paying their overdue rent with a paycheck that should have never stopped.
