Structural Biology Lab @UNC_BCBP officially opening our doors in February 2023! Interests: TAM RTK activation mechanisms/roles in disease and equitable science!
In his spare time, he is an avid music listener and vinyl collector, appreciator of flowers, and an iced chai latte enthusiast.
He has been a wonderful addition to the lab and we are excited to see the cool science that comes from this interdisciplinary collaboration! Welcome!
Please join us in welcoming our newest postdoc, Dr. Steven Moran (@SJvrMoran)!
Dr. Moran comes to us from Cornell University, but he's a NC native who started his research journey as an undergrad at Methodist University doing work at UNC's Institute of Marine Sciences!
He's joining our team to work on an exciting project that investigates RNA virus spread through TAM receptor tyrosine kinases using multi-disciplinary approaches in a highly collaborative project.
I’m extremely honored to be recognized with the WICB Junior Research Award. @ASCBiology and WICB have been key to my career development since I attended my first annual meeting in 2005. Congrats to the other awardees!
So excited to return to the Carolinas and visit @DukeU to share our latest work on discovering novel epigenetic drivers of SCC tumor resistance! #CancerResearch#SyntheticRegeneration
We are excited to hire a postdoctoral fellow to study the mechanisms that viruses use to 'hikjack' TAM receptors to enter host cells. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn new techniques and work in highly collaborative team! Please share!

Our lab is excited to attend #CellBio2024! Dr. Starbird will be a panelist in two sessions and also giving a short talk, and several people from the lab will be presenting posters as detailed in this thread. Please stop by and hear about what our new lab is doing:
Introducing Maria Camila Arango of the Starbird Lab, the first to be featured in our Meet the Lab series! Camila is a 2nd year graduate student. She may look familiar, and that’s because we were lucky to have her in the lab previously as a technician.
