OpenSwap team has been constantly pushing boundaries to enable a truly decentralized atomic swap market over Bitcoin & LN.
With the recent CPOF dependency on central swap servers, OpenSwap is the only solution ahead to decentralize the swap market.
Important stuff brews in silence.
๐จ Introducing Portal ๐จ
Our first unified app for everything OpenSwap: swap clients and routers in one place.
Make swaps, explore the market, manage liquidity, run multiple routers, and earn fees.
Runs on your desktop or on a headless server like a VPS or Umbrel.

Round 8 of the Liquid OP_RETURN telenovela. 3 hours after "bridge nodes are patched," the attacker:
"plz confirm again that we are sending the coins back to [federation address]"
Plus more encrypted "details about the vuln fix."
Man stole 3,998 BTC and is now the only one in this story doing proper code review AND double-checking addresses before sending. Blockstream should hire him. Oh wait, he already works for free. ๐คฃ
Coins still parked. ๐ฟ๐

I came to BLR back in 2022 to get a feel of what the Silicon Valley of India was really like.
By 2024 I was ready to leave, but then the idea of building India's first bitcoin-only space was being discussed in @bitshala_org. I decided to stay back and contribute to make it happen.
Still can't believe it's already been 2 yrs here.
Massive thanks to @HRF for supporting Bitspace our work here!
Onwards.
Coinswap is re-branded to OpenSwap.
As the protocol matured over the years, the rebrand is intended to reflect the protocol's broader scope as an open atomic swap mechanism where anyone can participate as a service provider or client.
For the longest time, swaps have been centralized through a central provider. This creates a central points of failure (CPOF). A swap provider can be taken down through regulatory capture or a DoS attack by a bot network, or can even spy on its user, or can censor client requests. As we have seen in recent events involving Boltz, when a central swap provider goes down, service disruptions affect many systems across the industry.
This is where OpenSwap comes in. OpenSwap provides an open protocol for atomic swaps where anyone can provide swap services and earn fees and clients cannot be censored as there is no one single dominant provider. Swap providers are discoverable through a decentralized marketplace embedded in the Bitcoin blockchain and via Nostr. Every swap provider produces a Fidelity Bond so the market cannot be Sybil-attacked.
OpenSwap is designed as protocol rather than a product. The core library exposes all required APIs so anyone can build their own swap interfaces, or any wallet developer can integrate the swap client into their own wallet.
The protocol is designed to be trustless, preserving provider and client privacy at every step. The protocol is fail-proof using HTLC contracts, so any entity can always claim a refund if a swap doesnโt pass.
With this, the new era of decentralized, unstoppable swapping ecosystem can begin. We built the machine, but it NEEDS YOU to run it.

โ ๏ธ This repo gained many stars in 24h. DO NOT RUN IT.
It claims to reproduce the vulnerable COLDCARD RNG, but an LLM-assisted review found a dependency that downloads and executes an infostealer that searches for wallet seeds, private keys and passwords.

Thank you @bitcoinoptech for covering us. It was a pleasure sharing our progress and getting Coinswap in front of the devs.
If you listen to it, please give Coinswap a spin. You can either try our example apps, or build your own using our FFIs.

Raj launched Bitshala in January 2023. Three years on, close to 1500 people have completed at least one cohort across ten Indian cities, and ten of them now work full-time on Bitcoin.
