We have 2 Adventure Days this Jan and Feb for children aged 8-16. With support from @sportwales @PAA_TOP and @BywnIachCymru we are able to offer 20 free places on each day. Please share!
@ClwydTweets Devastated for you. We have been coming for so many years I can’t count! Very sad to be missing out on this year’s performance. I’ll just have to look forward to next year’s performance instead. Xxx
@fmwales @PlasNewyddLlan@PenderynWhisky@WGRural No one left behind except the outdoor education centres who have spent the past year fighting for funding and survival? When will the guidance change to allow these centres to support young people with life changing education experience int he outdoors? #saveoutdoored
@wgmin_education I’ve just had a zoom call with my sister in law. Her daughter, my niece, can’t go on her residential trip because of your rules. Can you justify why these school residentials can’t take place? Because I can’t! #saveoutdoored
We are told time and again that getting children back into education is the Government's top priority.
So why does the outdoor education - with clear benefits for children's mental health and learning - continue to be treated as an afterthought?
No more delay #JustMakeADecision
Another review - delayed
Another opportunity to save jobs - lost
Another chance to allow children to enjoy time in a covid safe environment learning new skills, challenge themselves & build resilience - squandered
@GavinWilliamson when will you listen? #saveoutdoored
Disappointing news today that @educationgovuk have delayed publishing their review until 22/3. @GavinWilliamson do you actually care or realise the impact another delay will have on us? We need a reopening date like every other UK sector and now. #JustMakeADecision#saveoutdoored
Less of a jump, more of a glamorous wade! @GavinWilliamson will you set out a road plan so children of this age will still get the opportunity to go on residential trips to outdoor centres? @saveoutdoored#MuddyPuddleChallenge
@BorisJohnson@GavinWilliamson Very promising to hear the PM’s response but now we need full clarity on these plans so outdoor centres and schools can start to prepare for these much needed residential trips. #saveoutdoored
Last night I urged the Prime Minister to save outdoor residential centres to support young people's education & mental health.
I was *very* encouraged by his reply, saying there was "no reason" why outdoor education centres couldn't reopen ASAP.
Over to you Gavin Williamson...
As soon as we're able, we need to #GetKidsOutdoors, learning, playing and having fun.
@GavinWilliamson Outdoor centres are here and ready to help in this effort, but action to #SaveOutdoorEd is needed now. We need:
- Sector specific funding
- A plan for reopening.
Kids really need outdoor time. It develops so many of their senses & helps build their immune systems & mental capacity. Outdoor Centres around the UK have closed during the pandemic & they need more help than ever to reopen, to help our kids in this desperate time @saveoutdoored
@JuliaBradbury@saveoutdoored Thank you for supporting this campaign. Best thing for children to do to boost their abilities is to get them outside, connecting with other children and learning skills they didn’t even know they needed. Best place for that? Residentials at outdoor centres. #saveoutdoored
Please help this petition get the last few hundred signatures to reach 10000! At which point the government will respond. #saveoutdoored https://t.co/yH6ExFHs8m
Outdoor Centres provide amazing positive experiences for young people that will stay with them forever.
What more do our youngsters need right now than that?

Devolved administrations in Northern Ireland and Scotland have announced millions of pounds of sector specific support for outdoor education - it's high time the UK Government followed suit.

This is terrible news. Another vital resource lost. When will @BorisJohnson@RishiSunak@GavinWilliamson start listening? These centres desperately need to be saved. They are key to helping our young people recover from all they’ve endured during this pandemic. #saveoutdoored
Gareth Davies @aretecentre:
"there's not going to be anything left for future generations without an Easter re-start, or alternatively sector-specific funding to help us survive, if the government don't change their guidance."
