@imayoras I’ve lived with T1D for 32 years and this still happens to me 💛 Hang in there friend. You are doing the best you can with a disease that is trying to kill us 365/24/7. You’re doing great acting as a major organ 🤗
@camiscribbles I started out as a lawyer, moved to nonprofit management (animal sheltering and program mgmt), and now I’m a medical social worker 💛 Be true to yourself and the rest will follow! Now, I cause lots of good trouble by blending my law and social work backgrounds 😈

November is Diabetes Awareness Month! Over 100 years ago, insulin's discoverers sold their patent for $1 to make it accessible for all. Today, 1 in 2 people can't afford the insulin they need. Our global advocates are fighting to change this.

@BreakthroughT1D@BT1DUK A cure is great and all, but I’ve been told we’re just “5 years away” for the past 31 years I’ve lived with T1D. We need access to affordable insulin, diabetes supplies, and healthcare to be a much bigger priority. A cure would be nice if I can live long enough to see it 😔
@Edu_emerging Being a T1D has definitely shaped me. I was bullied for it, made to grow up too fast, & my T1D brother died due to a lack of access to the insulin & healthcare he needed. I changed my career from law to medical social work to help ppl in our community. It will never be enough.
@TheColorOfJess I have to bolus for 15g carb for black coffee and more if I use creamer. Every person is different in how coffee affects them ☕️ T1D is always an adventure 😅
When I say I am an abolitionist, I mean I am invested in building systems of robust & imaginative mental healthcare, education, living wages, housing, rent control, affordable food—a society so dynamic in care that renders prisons & police obsolete.
@DData_Diabetes All of these are nice, but do not matter when insulin is not affordable or accessible due to artificial shortages. Capping the cost of insulin and investing in public pharma will have the biggest impact on diabetes care ✊
HB 68 is a multilateral attack against trans Ohioans, and it violates no fewer than four separate provisions of the Ohio Constitution.
Our fight continues -- oral argument in the 10th District Court of Appeals is set for next week.
