@Tiffanyvatcher1 I agree with you! We still have a long way to go, you think in 2019 violence against women would be better. But us as a society, need to promote and educate people more about the consequences and actions that happen when violence against women takes place
#gndr1000 after reading this weeks topic on violence, what stood out to me the most was the facts on indigenous women. Aboriginal women and girls have a higher rate of violence against them compared to other Canadians women. The facts given in this weeks topic are shocking.
@KaileyParsons1#gndr1000 I felt the same Kailey! So much work goes unpaid and unnoticed. Women feel like they need to do all the housework, and for some men they still let their wife do it all. If women had to get paid for the chores they did at home, we would all be rich.
#gndr1000 the video on unpaid care work had me stun. After doing more research, I found a video of an artist who is a stay at home mom who Tallied up all her daily housework, at the end she showed her final picture of over a hundred tallies of unpaid work she did in one day.
@tiffanyvatcher Thank god for her husband. He knew something was wrong with her and medical professionals were just patting her on the head to feel better. Medical staff need to treat their patience equally, and respond to their needs. Women aren’t being dramatic when they are in pain. #gndr1000
#gndr1000 medical staff need to listen to their patients. Aftering reading Rachel’s story, I’m not shocked. This happens so often around the world, espically in regards to women’s health. When it comes to menstrual cycles , I don’t think men realize the pain it causes us women.
@lynelle_mercer I agree with what you said. It is very important to realize the boundaries within body postivity! People often don’t realize when they say things to people how much they take it to heart. You should never comment on someone’s weight either being too fat or thin #gndr1000
People in todays society seem to judge people if they are too fat or too thin, there is no pleasing anybody. it is important to realize us as humans need to be our own selfs and express our bodies with our own definition of beautiful #gndr1000
@CritchJessica In this video the host makes some good valid points! I was dumbfounded too how people believe in this. Racism needs to stop, and it’s crazy to believe it’s still happening very strongly in 2019. Being mixed race doesn’t solve the problem #gndr1000
Racism is still a big issue in today’s world. It is sad that the word “racism” is still a thing in today’s world. After watching the video on multiracial kids ending racism, it’s crazy to think people believe in this. This video is showing good, real valid points #gndr1000
@CritchJessica After watching her TED talk it never really occurred to me how much we don’t see disabled people in the media. By her being an amazing role model, she can do many good things in this world especially helping disabled people live their dreams like she has done #gndr1000
Maysoon Zayid was truly hilarious but also motivational. By listening to her speech about disabled people, it really opened my eyes especially when she said “people with disabilities are the largest minority in the world and we are the most underrepresented”. #gndr1000
@Briannaelsie_ I was disgusted too Brianna! I was sick watching it, what made me upset was watching George the “therapy” doctor hear the news of Craig’s passing! He truly didn’t look upset, I don’t think just George is to blame but of the parents too!
#gndr1000 the video of the “sissy boy” was truly eye opening! I went and told my mom about it because I was mind blown that this actually happened! It’s crazy to think that this is probably not the only case that took place throughout North America and the rest of the world!
@ErinCar07997502#gndr1000 Hi Erin! I was thinking the same about the TED talk. It brought tears to my eyes, and it made me think about these African American women in a whole new perspective.
#gndr1000 after listening to these two YouTube videos “what do girls hear/what do men hear” they really stood out to me. I’ve heard these same words said to me before (many times) and to know that I’m not the only one, helps us women stick together!
