SUNDAY, June 21 will, unfortunately, feature ANOTHER tornado risk in the same hard-hit parts of Illinois that have dealt with back-to-back tornado outbreaks.
I understand this is frustrating, but it's important folks are paying attention on Sunday – especially since it's Father's Day.
Machine learning guidance, in tandem with both the NAM and the EURO/ECMWF models, is hinting at the strengthening of a surface low in northern Missouri. That will lift a warm front north into central Illinois and Indiana, reintroducing a souped-up, warm air mass and ample thunderstorm fuel.
We'll have additional helicity (twist) along the warm front AND extra vorticity (spin) with our approaching surface low. That means a couple tornadoes will be possible. It's too early to ascertain how strong they'll be. I'm leaning toward lower-end tornadoes (EF0-EF1) if they occur, so probably not quite as significant as what we say Wednesday.
Likewise, I do NOT believe hail will be a big concern. If hail occurs, it will probably be up to about half dollar size, but I don't think anything bigger will occur with any of the storms.
Once wildcard is the potential for morning storms to gobble up some of the instability (storm fuel). That would reduce afternoon risk, but that's TBD.
For now, the tornado risk is increasing and, given it's Friday, I want to raise some awareness heading into the weekend.
Israel killed Mona Khalil in South Lebanon.
On June 6, they dropped a bomb on her home in Mansouri — flattening it.
Mona, an environmental activist, dedicated her life to protecting endangered sea turtles along Lebanon’s coast.
She died of her injuries today.

A 9 year old boy drowned Monday 6/15/26
in Henrico County, VA after his mother dropped him off for swim camp at SwimRVA-North, located at 317 North Wilkinson Road. It was King’s first day at swim camp and he was excited to learn how to swim.
His mother, LaTaisha Johnson, is demanding answers as to how her son drowned at a swim camp that was meant to teach children how to swim. Henrico Police are refusing to call it a drowning!!! We can’t let them cover this up.
His name was King Overton! 💔💔💔💔

This is America.
🚨 This is now a Level 4 of 5 risk for parts of central Illinois and northwest Indiana tomorrow, and the wording out of SPC is blunt: an outbreak.
The big concern is strong tornadoes, especially where storms ride right along the warm front and stay alive for miles. On top of that, wind gusts up to 80 mph and hail the size of tennis balls are on the table.
If you live in this zone, tomorrow is a day to keep close tabs on. We'll be LIVE with it.
Wednesday is shaping up to be a dangerous severe weather day from Missouri to Ohio. A level 3 of 5 risk now targets Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Columbia, Springfield, and Peoria. Strong tornadoes, big hail, and damaging winds are all in play.
Two days out, eyes on Wednesday. SPC just hung a Level 3 risk over Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.
This one looks like an all-hazards day. Storms should fire in the afternoon, first as a few strong supercells across Missouri and Illinois, then clumping into one big line as the evening goes on.
That means strong tornadoes early, then a long swath of damaging wind, gusts of 70 mph or more, as the line plows east. Plenty can still shift around, but the setup has their attention this far out.
Red Cross warns that the identities of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza may never be identified
——
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that thousands of Palestinians under the rubble in Gaza may never be identified due to advanced decomposition and the sheer volume of destruction. After two years of Israel's genocide targeting the besieged population, UN data reveals that three-quarters of the enclave's buildings have been destroyed, leaving behind a staggering 61.5 million tons of debris. This apocalyptic wasteland is 20 times greater than the total rubble generated by all Israeli aggressions in Gaza since 2008.
Recovery efforts for the estimated 8,000 bodies still trapped beneath the ruins remain severely crippled. Despite a ceasefire being in place since December, the Israeli occupation continues to block the entry of excavators and heavy machinery. Rescue teams and Civil Defense personnel are forced to clear mountains of concrete using only their bare hands, shovels, and basic tools, while families accuse Israeli military bulldozers of intentionally displacing bodies to erase evidence of war crimes.
The systematic denial of equipment means vital identifying evidence like fingerprints, dental records, and personal belongings is rapidly being lost to time and environmental decay. There are thousands of Palestinians in Gaza who are still missing, and their families remain in limbo, unsure if their loved ones are alive, dead, or trapped within the interrogation chambers of the Israeli prison system.
Wednesday is a day to watch across the Midwest once again due to very favorable synoptics lining up over the same areas that were affected a few days ago by powerful tornadoes.
Shear favorable for supercells will be in place which may result in an all-hazards threat evolving in the 30% risk area. Updates to come!
BREAKING:
Apocalyptic scenes in Lebanon’s capital right now.
Israel is bombing residential buildings in densely populated neighborhoods of Beirut.
A ceasefire that still allows bombs to fall on civilians is not a ceasefire.
I can’t believe it has been one year since Melissa and her husband, Mark, were taken from us.
Melissa was not only my dear friend, but she was also a remarkable woman whose strength and compassion left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. I miss her every single day. She was a force in every sense of the word, leading with courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to Minnesotans across our state. She never hesitated to stand up for what was right, to fight injustice, and to use her voice on behalf of those who needed someone in their corner.
Although the loss of Melissa and Mark is still deeply felt, their light will continue to shine through the countless people whose lives they changed. ❤️
Sickle Cell Awareness Day is also on Juneteenth.
It’s important to recognize this especially since 90% of people with sickle cell are black.
There is a gene therapy treatment that basically cures sickle cell disease & is 90% effective, but it costs $2-3 million
