Excellent reporting from @zschultzWPT, and incredible work by our partners at @NextDoorMil to listen to the research and to take action — both for these children and for their (all too often) under-appreciated teachers.
Excited to represent @LENAEarlyTalk this Thursday, Feb 9, 1 PM EST for the launch of Overdeck Family Foundation’s 2022 Grantmaking & Impact Report. Looking forward to the convo led by OFF's brilliant Anu Malipatil!

We’ve used LENA Grow for past five years to help support infant/toddler teachers in understanding the importance of language & serve & return interactions in the first years of life.
Our infant/toddler teachers are neuro-architects building a brighter future for little ones 💕
Brown University’s @BabyImaging researchers and nonprofit @LENAEarlyTalk worry about long-term impact of language acquisition delays in kids born into pandemic as they near preschool https://t.co/1rkMeqJ9Tz
Absolutely gutted by the devastation of today’s fires in Superior and Louisville. Many @LENAEarlyTalk team members among the thousands evac’d & holding their loved ones tonite. Prayers for all & the first responders putting themselves in harm’s way in unbelievable conditions.
"From the parents participating in a LENA Start session at the end of a long day to the teachers and center directors engaging in professional development while juggling the pandemic’s challenges, the dedication is remarkable" — @StephenMHannon

“Pursuing two separate funding buckets — one just for public preschool, the other for all child care — is a poor way to address parents’ diverse child care needs across the early childhood years.”
NEW from me in @hechingerreport: It's 2021. Can we please stop treating child care and preschool as if they are two fundamentally different enterprises that deserve to have different funding and fees and respect?

"How do you fix a fundamentally broken system? It’s not as simple as blowing it up and starting over. The failure is so textured, so tied up in ideas of gender and race, of women and work, of 'choice' and 'kids are best cared for at home'..." YES.
Amen. In the 6th grade, I debated in the affirmative for stricter gun control regs based on the stats at the time. That was more than 45 years years ago. And those stats have only gotten worse.

All since I was in high school and all within 20 miles of me and my family. I'm sick of this shit.
I steer clear of chiming in on politics, but this is about humanity. The last year, the last four years, set new lows for leadership in this space. Thank you @POTUS for re-setting the bar that all leaders, including me, need to grow and aspire to.

@RachelRRomeo @NICHD_NIH @PsychHarvard@hgse@UMDCollegeofEd Fantastic! Congratulations to you and the team. You’ve already advanced the field substantially, and we look forward to many more important discoveries that will come from this work.
