@HelenClarkNZ I too add my deepest sympathies and condolences to Nicholas’ family and echo Helen’s tribute. All of us who’ve served at the UN gained a deep respect for Nick and his work and as a colleague - he was always supportive, clear sighted, determined, skilled with real leadership
Mourning 100s of humanitarians killed this year. This is more than a statistical spike - it is normalization of violence against our community.
Each attack is an attack on all of us. Enough.

Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of our dear friend, colleague and @WHO Envoy David Nabarro.
David was a great champion of global health and health equity, and a wise, generous mentor to countless individuals. His work touched and impacted so many lives across the world.
On behalf of WHO, I’m extending our heartfelt condolences to David’s family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. We will dearly miss your expertise, wisdom and kindness.
I’m deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Alistair Darling. Alistair was a towering figure in Scottish and UK politics. We were on different sides of the @HouseofCommons, but it was an honour to work with him to help secure the Union. My heart goes out to his family.
After such dedication and effort, congratulations to all involved in bringing the new scalable effective WHO recommended malaria vaccine, R21! Developed by British-backed scientists, this a great chance to beat malaria, as we’ve all worked for.Join us! #finishthejob#zeromalaria
UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres and the Organization's Humanitarian Coordinator in #Yemen, @DavidGressly, welcome the release of 5 security personnel kidnapped in February 2022.

@GrandBargain_@ODI_Global@hpg_odi Delighted to see this progress after we kicked the Grand Bargain off and gave it its global platform at the only ever World Humanitarian Summit in May 2016 (Istanbul).
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria begged the Assad regime for access to international teams, but there was no response during the 72-hour rescue window. #FaultLine#SyrianEarthquake@UNReliefChief

@PMaurerICRC @ICRC You set the highest standard others in this global field of activity can only aspire to: thank you for your inestimable service to helping the most vulnerable to survive and thrive and for your collaborative leadership. Best wishes to you and a warm welcome to your successor.
Our next PM will make an important decision on UK support for @GlobalFund within days of entering that famous No. 10 door. With countless others I urge our new PM to maintain UK’s brilliant record amongst our international allies in ensuring we support strongly the Replenishment.
On #ThisWorldMosquitoDay, I’m calling on our next PM to make a strong pledge to @GlobalFund: no child should die from #malaria, a totally avoidable, preventable and treatable disease so long as we have the political will and the sustainable $£€¥ resources. #FightForWhatCounts
This year, @GlobalFund is calling on the world to fight for what counts to save 20 million more lives. We need your help! Can we count on you? Add your name to the #FightForWhatCounts petition and tell the world “Count me in!” https://t.co/UNI8dipG9I
I am devastated to hear this - what a terrible loss to global health, development and great good sense and leadership. Above all my heart goes out to his family and colleagues. Within DFID Danny and I spent important time together supporting people in need N Ghana in 2010/11.RIP.
Greatly saddened by the passing of my colleague Danny Graymore. Danny was an outstanding health diplomat & @WHO was among numerous global health bodies who benefited from his insight, intelligence & empathy. I share my condolences with his family, friends & many colleagues.
Exceptional, brave, harrowing, factual, respectful live reporting. Primary evidence of breaches of #IHL . This should be compulsory viewing by ALL the UN Sec Ccl. Your report took me straight back to Aleppo in 2016. I salute your courage.
Our @BBCNews reports tonight from #Ukraine as aired on #bbcnewsten My reporting wouldn’t be possible without much hard work by many valued colleagues in London and here in Ukraine. Tonight great work by @ProducerKathy and @leedurant

The @icrc reacts to a ‘deliberate and targeted campaign of misinformation’. My story on what humanitarian neutrality means in #Ukraine️ or indeed any war. https://t.co/uQXlJVc2Go
