When you give money directly to people in extreme poverty, you are not just supporting development, you are giving freedom and respecting their dignity @GiveDirectly
@LBC#benkentish the right question to ask is, Do we want another 13 years of the same rubbish, after they had messed up so badly. Let's give KS a crack at it, they can't do any worse. Lab did make inroads with NHS when they came to power. Con, have sold everything
Well... conservative faithful full of positivity about RS speech. But to me, it is sounding like an echo chamber. (arnt we good). Where is the long-term vision for housing, the green agenda, green energy, and families struggling with the cost of living. What was that about?
@clairebubblepop The music scene was good. I loved playing and singing in the local pubs and clubs. Politically, the Tories sold off everything. Nothing to show for it now, but a broken system, the poor are pooer, and the rich are richer. Nothing has changed except deciet, more hate and division
-Human rights are not luxuries.
-Compassion is not weakness.
-Strong and secure borders are good sense. No one is arguing for open borders.
- Concern for refugees is not middle class it's human.
- Dissmissing the views of people because of their wealth is pretty rich from the conservatives when we have a PM who is richer than the King.
I respectfully disagree with our Home Secretary.
@krishk Christianity/Faith is not something that stands outside of life, community, or politics. We are called to speak out about injustice, to speak up for the least & lost & vulnerable in society. That means getting involved in politics & justice. Micah 6:8
@MirrorDarren We are living in unprecedented times, of which, if left unchallenged on the moral ethics or humanity, we will live with this far right ideology for years to come. We need to return to a sensible centre grd, grownup politics. Not authoritarian radical, right, fueling division.
Just watched Sophie Ridge chatting with Gordon Brown.
In my opinion he's the best Chancellor this country has had in my lifetime. He's a very intelligent man who has compassion as well. Wears his heart on his sleeve. Truly cares about people. His appearance gives me hope.
Such a powerful speech, from the heart, about Suella Braverman's views on multiculturalism in Britain from
@lisanandy 👏🏼
Rapturous applause from the audience.
It's worth watching ⏬️ #bbcqt
@carolvorders@lisanandy This was truly a remarkable and incisive speech, truthful, passionate, and measured. We need more politicians like this, please. There is some hope. We'll done @lisanandy it was brilliant.
Conservatives in the suburbs of southern England crumbles!
Seat-by-seat analysis of voting intention by the Stonehaven research and strategy consultancy suggested that the Labour Party would win a comfortable majority of 90 seats and 39% of the votes if the next general election were held tomorrow. Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor, was among the ministers who would be unseated by the @LibDems
The MRP poll used demographic and other data to build a constituency-by-constituency projection showed that support for the Conservatives would collapse to 26.3% of the vote, from 43.6% won by Boris Johnson in 2019.
Rishi Sunak’s projected 196-seat tally would be the worst recorded by any Conservative leader since William Hague’s 166 in 2001. Labour’s 372 seats would give Sir Keir Starmera comfortable working majority of 90, the party’s biggest since 2001.
Highlighting the Tories’ vulnerabilities in their traditional southern heartlands, the LibDems would be returned with 36 seats and 10.8% of the vote, a marked improvement on the 15 seats they hold at present. Sir Ed Davey’s party would unseat Hunt in his new Surrey constituency of Godalming & Ash, as well as Alex Chalk in Cheltenham.
Greg Hands, who as Conservative Party chairman will have at least nominal responsibility for the Tory campaign, is predicted to lose Chelsea & Fulham to Labour.
David TC Davies, the Welsh secretary, would be unseated by Labour in his constituency of Monmouth.
Simon Hart, the chief whip, and Andrew Mitchell, who attends cabinet as international development minister, would lose their Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire and Sutton Coldfield seats to Labour.
Jacob Rees-Mogg would also be ejected from the Commons 😀
