what is the actual point of KS2 SATs? Do you think they’re a true and accurate reflection of a child’s learning? Or an expensive test designed to catch kids out, a stick to beat schools with and discriminate against children with particular send needs?
@Ruth_E_Hill@WestLondonWomen They did that to me. Top rate tax for 6 months... then a refund. No interest on the money I'd overpaid and they'd kept for 6 months ...
@jwflame@AvonandsomerRob Even Tesco's cooking chocolate has more cocoa solids (34%) than Cadbury's (20%). And advertises that their 'eating' chocolate contains no palm oil.
I have to say, the reaction on here to Archbishop Sarah’s pilgrimage is very disappointing. First of all, the facts: she is breaking her pilgrimage to attend the Lords to vote on the abortion amendments, which obviously took some organisation because the pilgrimage was long planned and the date of the Lords debate only announced on Friday.
@JcTowson30960@EstherMcVey1 it all works well until you get into the NHS system. I had 2 weeks rapid referral for a carcinoma with a recommendation it be treated quickly owing to its location - perfect. See the consultant who agrees, says I should hear in a couple of weeks. Three months later - nothing.
@TheNorfolkLion Cadbury is owned by Mondelez, an American company. They've changed the recipe to be more American; less cocoa (20%), more sugar and palm oil. And, of course, cheaper. Standard Lidl chocolate has a much cocoa content (c30%) probably because it's a German company.
The answer to even catastrophically falling clergy numbers must not be to shut churches but to start to end the vicious circle whereby the merging of parishes makes priesthood unattractive, leading to falling congregations and then, inevitably, fewer vocations. @SaveTheParish
@GaryWaddington So many curacies are arranged on the basis that there is a curate's house in the parish, rather than the TI actually being someone who can train a curate. What could go wrong?
The great British eccentric lives on: Andy Jones, 71, a volunteer at @nationaltrust for more than a decade, sent a dossier of thousands of misspellings and factual errors to the charity’s director-general in the hope that they would be corrected. (Strong trouser choice).
