Zero tolerance for AI Doom BS. Tired of that idiocy.
Who here can say they have ever...
1. Trained an ML model
2. Run inference on their own model on their own infrastructure.
3. Experimented with what they can find on Hugging Face
4. Read a journal level paper on ML research?
5. Used pytorch at all
And yet everyone has such a strong opinion on ML
@sd_marlow I was at Google Labs just before he quit. He never brought up his fears to the staff there. Not once. The man is senile, I am afraid. This is a case of late career drift a lot like Linus Pauling.
People are so ignorant of AI they think it might "Crave the reward signal" and therefore "power seek."
The "reward signal" is a null. It's just a lower change by gradient decent. It does not get a treat or pat on the head.
I really wish there were a better GPU compute provider than Runpod that offered anything like their prices. AWS is so much better but so much costlier.
@InfiniteReign88 You people are so unhinged. AI never had a "soul"
There is legitimate debate about what the proper tone and tempo chatbots should take is. It's hit or miss, and some people like it better one way or the other.
Stop being so melodramatic. It's software!
It should, never the less, give us pause, no?
Are we sure this is a thing? It has never happened before
"But this time is different."
I know you keep saying that, and it certainly seems very smart, but is it really? Have you truly looked into this?
Those warning of AI-driven mass unemployment are predicting something that has never happened before. That does not mean it can never happen at all https://t.co/W2OqCRq238

The "Protect Our Games Act" is the Pinnacle of First World Problems https://t.co/MKAtkJ0zfe
This might be the single most first world problem I have ever encountered!
If there ever was a first world problem...
A number of game publishers have shut down games. This causes a great deal of heartache. Developers fire back that they can't maintain the infrastructure forever and it could be overreach...

I seriously absolutely would love both. We have a few small data centers in the area, and the nuclear plant, which I strongly support, is about 30 miles from me.
