Søren Kierkegaard on the Importance of Walking
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.”
If the Western world feels like it's gone insane over the last decade, you're not imagining it.
Polish psychologist Andrew Lobaczewski spent his life studying this phenomenon.
He called the field Political Ponerology.
The study of how psychologically disordered individuals capture institutions.
Every pathological regime ends up with the same cast of characters.
Here they are 🧵

1. Coger el móvil ante la mínima incomodidad.
My favorite line from Atomic Habits has been living in my head rent-free:
“It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.”

Highly intelligent, disagreeable men who prefer, or are comfortable with, women significantly less intelligent than themselves often have lower emotional computation than they realise. They may be cognitively sharp in the external world, but relationally underdeveloped in understanding how intellectual asymmetry can tragically affect them over time. A woman becomes the person through whom your mind, nervous system, home, children, decisions, future, and emotional reality are continuously filtered.
Men with lower discernment, on the other hand, often inherit their preferences directly from society. They are conditioned into wanting a certain kind of woman because being with her places them at a more acceptable level inside the social hierarchy. This woman can be beautiful, soft, traditional, successful, submissive, fashionable, or anything else the surrounding culture has consecrated as desirable. Their attraction is just societal programming.
Resonance requires some degree of shared grounding, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and spiritually. This does not mean two people need to possess the same intelligence in the same form, or think about the same subjects with identical intensity. But there has to be an underlying equivalence, a recognisable sameness of substance, a feeling that both people are made out of the same material.
Even when you see a couple that has been together for 30 years, where the man is exceptionally intelligent and the woman is a housewife, beautiful, gentle, and seemingly less outwardly intellectual, look closely. If the relationship is in a happy state, they are similar somewhere. Their intelligence may express itself differently, but there will be alignment in perception, instinct, humour, values, rhythm, loyalty, emotional angles, or life philosophy.
That ground of similarity is non-negotiable. People do not sustain love merely through polarity. Surface opposition may create attraction, but long-term devotion requires resonance. You can look different, function differently, and occupy different roles, but somewhere beneath you have to be same and one.
Piaget'in yanılgısı:
Büyümek, otomatik olarak üst düzeyde mantıklı ve soyut düşünebilmek anlamına gelmez; bazı toplumlarda insanların yarısı en üst bilişsel gelişim evresine asla ulaşamaz.
People who spend long periods of time at home and slowly lose the desire to go outside often think they're just resting. But psychologically, many of them are experiencing something called mental rumination. It's a state where the brain starts slowing down while the number of thoughts inside keeps increasing and the motivation to do anything slowly disappears. The mind gets stuck in the past, worries about the future and burns itself out. This isn't laziness, it's a nervous system stuck in survival mode. And the longer it lasts, the more distant normal life begins to feel. And the difficult part is that you usually can't escape it through one massive burst of motivation. And sometimes, recovery starts with just one small step.
One possible explanation as to why the left has no theory of mind of the right comes from Jonathan Haidt’s “The Righteous Mind” (2012).
He shows that moral judgments come from instinct and are then rationalized.
The six moral foundations are care, fairness, loyalty, authority, sanctity, and liberty.
Leftists build their moral world on care and fairness, whereas the right draws on all 6 almost equally.
This implies that the right’s moral range generally allows them to understand the left, whereas the left tend to be unable to comprehend moral worldviews based on loyalty, authority, sanctity, and liberty.
The left is constantly arguing with only a third of the moral vocabulary the right is actually using.
Utanç ve mahcubiyet hissetmemiz kendi değerlerimizden ziyade, başkalarının bizi nasıl yargılayacağından kaynaklanır. Yani "benliğimiz" sandığımız kadar bize özel değildir.
Here is a harsh fact: if we use the white population as the norm 100 IQ then the global average is 85. This means that only 25% of the global population has an IQ of 100 or above.
Without considering culture or temperament, this means that 75% of the world will find the minimum complexity of a modern society overwhelming to the point of distress. They simply cannot handle things like paying bills or having a stable job.
As the world grows more complex, this will only get worse.

The reason men explain a lot of things to women is that in general knowledge tests men outperform women in almost every category.
The reason men know more general knowledge is they find it interesting when something is explained to them, not condescending.
