A major positive that the internet and especially social media outlets bring is that information gets passed so quick. It allows for the hole world to see what is happening in other countries and allows us to offer support to those in need.
Going back to the Disney topic, I think Disney has seen its mistakes and is really trying to produce movies with strong female roles and main characters of different ethnicities
Raw, unedited videos are much more appealing to me. So many videos are edited and cut in a way to influence the viewers the way the producer wants them to think/feel.
That is why I believe for the younger generation to be educated in the right ways to use the internet and social media outlets, it must start from their parents and teachers being educated first, so that they can teach them
I just finished watching a video of the ridiculous questions the Senators were asking Mark Zuckerberg about Facebook and it is really funny seeing how uneducated these Senators are when it comes to social media. One guy basically thought Whatsapp was Facebook
@stevenfurlano13 I remember seeing something about this documentary a little while back and I think its a must watch as well. It's scary how we just give our consent away because we don't want to read all the terms and conditions
@stevenfurlano13 I agree, there is still a lot or racism and sexism that still goes on today. Its sad how this still happens after all the effort trying to stop it from happening
@alexia_lento Very true, I really think everything should be looked at from all angles. And I especially think that educators shouldn't just teach THEIR personal opinions
@SDaddario307 Apparently most social media outlets have in their Terms and Conditions to use our information and even sell our information. I'm not saying it's right, but that's how they cover themselves from being sued.
@alexia_lento Can't agree with this more! There are plenty of benefits that technology brings to the learning of students, but they must not let it be the only thing they pay attention too. There is life beyond technology!
@stevenfurlano13 Same here, I really thought it was going to be a pain and that it wasnt going to be beneficial at all, but it turns out to have been very useful in understanding several topics
@ajoy_varta Although I didn't like the idea of tweeting 100 tweets throughout the semester, I have come to agree with the fact that it did help learning some of the topics and has really become enjoyable
@emily_newell96@EvangeliouSoph Same here! It's crazy how this class is making us realize how important what we post is and how much it can impact someone's life
@ashleyberdowski There are definitely many positive aspects to using social media and the growth of social media. We shouldn't only focus on the negatives
@alexia_lento I agree with this as well, continuing a conversation is way easier and much more interesting to see other's points of views on certain topics instead of stating facts about the lessons
@alexia_lento I tend to agree with what the TedTalk you posted talks about. The main reason why I use social media is to keep up with what my friends are up to. But I would be perfectly fine getting my information elsewhere. Great topic!
@abishaapanchad Same here! Although there is plenty of things Disney would go back and change if they can, the messages of their movies would always be the same
