In my opinion, educations primary goal is to shape our knowledge, with no intention of bias, for "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it" - Aristotle #educ307
Versus magazines, and so on. What do you think of this statement? I for one am conflicted but starting to see logic behind not needing a social media account to function in society just as we would with one. (2/2)
Going back to the Ted Talk I shared by Dr. cal Newport, he refers to social media as a form of entertainment. By refusing to use social media you are merely saying you prefer to get your entertainment elsewhere, just like saying you prefer to get information from newspapers (1/2)
I do truly believe social media platforms provide us with some practical benefits but I do agree that newer generations need to understand the importance of life without such technologies as well.
@tarek_tayeh @MikeFerrante58 I see your points, however Disney's concerns are consumer's concerns. A mass market company such as Disney are all about strong consumer trends, and if a large number of their market sees past products as an issue, Disney should and can rejuvenate them!
Going back to the Disney debate, it is understood that Disney knew what would sell at the time, however the fact is that that these stories are still present, and children still watch them... what do you think Disney should do from here to deal with rising concerns?
It's crazy how it is a lot easier to achieve the interaction requirements for our participation but I for one did not feel that for the original tweet requirements! I think it's because interacting, debating, sharing etc. all provide higher levels of educational stimuli!
