The Bears’ Board of Directors voted Thursday to advance the stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact to be selected. This is this first time that the Bears’ board has voted on any stadium site.
As one source said, “There is more work to do but barring anything very strange, it’s a done deal.”
On this day in 1999, the Cardinals' Fernando Tatis became the only player in MLB history to hit two grand slams in the same inning, for an 11-run third inning 😤
This discussion has gone on long enough. Sports that have a high volume of regular season games will always have competitive imbalance.
Few solutions… Drastically reduce regular season (half). Reduce the number of teams. Increase teams and get promotion/relegation.
Good luck!
Zach Lowe shares a tanking solution idea that came up in the GMs meeting that intrigued a few General Managers:
A proposal to not get rid of the draft entirely, but get rid of the draft order. Every team gets 100 draft credits let’s say. You bid your draft credits on every individual slot in the draft. You can also trade your draft credits like a veteran player for 40 draft credits if you want to go in a rebuilding direction. As teams advance in the playoffs, they lose draft credits so the best teams would have less to bid on individual picks. So you can take all your credits and bid on the number 1 pick in the draft if you want. Or if you think next years draft is better, you roll your credits over.

One thing I’m not hearing mentioned to “save the NBA” is that you reduce the number of playoff teams to 4 per conference and the #1 seed chooses its first opponent.
The only way to maximize the value of the regular season is to reduce the number of playoff teams.
“This is the most important decision of his career.”
@BillSimmons breaks down why convincing players and owners to shorten the NBA season will be Adam Silver's defining moment as NBA commissioner.
I’m not opposed to shortening the regular season. But it doesn’t solve a sport that has an irrelevant regular season because of the number of playoff teams.
This has been talked amongst fan group text for a few years now. The NBA media should’ve run with this when Rashard Mendenhall proposed this for the Pro Bowl. Now the mainstream media will be content opportunists.
My question is do you split the fans in attendance by race too?
@jemelehill I was thinking about this too. But I don't think K-Pop groups will perform for free. That's the biggest barrier. (I know your tweet was a joke)
"A voter who spoke on condition of anonymity said that (Bill) Polian... told some voters he believed Belichick should 'wait a year' before induction as penance for Spygate, the 2007 cheating scandal that cost the team a first-round draft pick."
As devastating as it should be. An unforgettable season. Unfortunate the season ends so abruptly like that. You just never know how big your window really is. But for the first time in maybe my lifetime, the future is something to be legitimately excited over.
