When I write code under the GPL; you’re entitled to use the code under the GPL’s terms. Nothing more. It doesn’t come with an entitlement to a lifetime of unlimited free services.

@ryancduff Surprise. It costs FOSS developers thousands to write and publish trusted code on other platforms. This didn’t apply to WordPress devs because .org flipped the bill for over a decade. Turns out, it wasn’t really free to everyone (newsflash: neither is GitHub for enterprise co.).

When FSE and Gutenberg came out; I was not a fan. But I've fallen in love with it after successfully child-theming 2024 and using it to hit that sweet spot of hard-coded customized functionality, and client capable versatility. Looking forward to what 2025 brings.
