Zaria Group, co-founded by Dallas Mavericks president Masai Ujiri alongside Helios Sports & Entertainment Group, has signed a long-term lease with Kenya Railways Corporation to develop a 10,000-seat indoor arena at Nairobi Railway City.

According to regulatory filings cited by Bloomberg, the 172-hectare Railway City site is located around Nairobi Central Railway Station in the central business district.

The lease was signed in April 2026 in the presence of President William Ruto.

An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment identifies Zaria Group as the project proponent, with its local subsidiary, Metroarena Development Company Limited, serving as the development partner.

Zaria Group has valued the project at KSh38.2 billion.

The arena is expected to provide a major indoor sports and entertainment venue in Nairobi.
