But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
The bible teaches us to discipline(spank) children, if you don't then you have exactly what we see in society today, unruly, entitled children that respect absolutely nothing, young girls pregnant and running to an abortion clinic to murder their unborn child, young boys and girls stealing everything they can get their hands on.
