had a great chat with @martincox100 about everything we've learnt building preorders in @StoqApp and the value of building a great product last week.
quick notes -
1. preorders is not a one-size-fits-all solution. thinking of our product as a platform rather than a prescribed SaaS unlocked way more value for us.
2. building a great product - as in, deeply caring about the user experience - got us further along to our goals than anything else. :)
STOQ helped Shopify merchants sell 600% more preorders this BFCM than the last.
2024: 8,200 preorders
2025: 56,979 preorders
thanks to everyone here and in the ecosystem for bringing merchants onto @StoqApp! it's been a banger year for us.
i had a few more shower thoughts yesterday of making STOQ better than ever before in 2026. can't wait to ship them out!

we charge very little for it.

and we get very, extremely, undeniably lucky in between.
that's all it takes to build a shopify apps biz.
Here! I think there are couple of options for you here.
On your store, @StoqApp is probably best for pre-orders. For donations, you could create a digital product "Contribution or Donation for future production" and leave it as non-physical and allow customers like @humankind_place "buy" that product in variants of $100, $200, $500 etc. The only issue is you might have to hide the "donation" product if you don't want other customers to see it.
Alternatively, you can use our app Raisewave to set up a special storefront for your new flavors and the donation product. This way the products will only show up on the Raisewave storefront and it goes through shopify checkout. The app is currently free so you can try it out without any costs.

The @StoqApp settings are so smart, sensible defaults which work for most themes to just enable and get going, but able to tweak in the dev mode for customisation.
