Had an appliance company come out to attempt to fix the ice maker in my fridge.
2 visits. 1 to diagnose what they thought was the issue and a 2nd visit to return to replace the part after ordering it.
Replaced the part, charged about $300, and it was still broken.
Turns out I can replace the entire ice maker for about $75 and 10 minutes of my time.
You'd assume they would have just suggested I replace the whole ice maker instead of one part of it...espcially given they were just guessing at what was wrong in the first place.
My fault for not doing more research ahead of time but damn, what a ripoff.
@potatokmish@StubHub Somewhat different example but it's the same reason Chase Travel charges a premium compared to booking direct. You're using rewards points and they know it so they gouge you.
