When meeting @swfc fans I’ve been most moved by the countless numbers who’ve shared going to games with their dads and now taking their sons and daughters to the games in the same spirit passing on their families legacies. One young lady I’d say in her early 20’s stopped me on the street to thank me yes but to let me know she was a 6th generation Wednesdayite. 6th generation!! I marvel at this, tells me so much about Wednesday, Sheffield … it’s very moving!
Thanks to all our fans, let me add a special thanks for our multigenerational ones.
Today is a great day to embrace your dads, maybe your grandads while also embracing your sons and daughters. God bless our @swfc family!

There’s a deeper constitutional question here: who sets the rules of saving – Parliament, or HMRC modelling spreadsheets tweaked to plug whatever hole the Chancellor has dug this month?
The salary‑sacrifice system was deliberately designed to nudge workers into pension saving by letting them swap pay for long‑term security without paying NI on that portion; employers built entire benefits packages around it in good faith.
Now, with no manifesto mandate and after the election, Labour has used a single budget line to rewrite that social contract, retro‑taxing a mechanism many families rely on to stay below punitive tax‑cliff edges such as child benefit withdrawal.
Pensions bodies warn that once people see governments treating long‑term promises as “fair game” every budget cycle, confidence collapses and they simply stop locking money away for decades under rules that can be torn up overnight.
If even pensions are now just another revenue lever to be yanked whenever the Treasury is short of cash, why should any saver believe the next “long‑term guarantee” that comes out of Westminster?
The Champions League Final brought the curtain down on the club football season, and attention now turns to the World Cup.
There’s still time to get involved in our sweepstake, which will be drawn on our show on Monday 8th June.
