Where is the product management function moving🤔
With the current focus on cost savings leading to collapsing of roles, merging of functions, expectations from all roles no longer remain the same.
The metaphorical North Star for a product manager is no longer just delivering value but delivering innovation
Weaving through the distractions and keeping a keen eye on what truly sparks creativity and innovation is a must
Being a product manager is not just about ticking off tasks, but about leading the charge towards groundbreaking solutions. And this thinking is being called to action more than ever.
Incremental scope of work will soon stop being satisfactory, and teams will be pushed to think big, if they already aren’t.
Curious on what others feel about this?
@ilobb1 Which is worse? Officials getting it wrong in the real-time split second, or VAR getting it wrong because humans that interpreted it are not consistent? Either way imho the problem is the standard of human not AI. The premier league refs are *so* poor considering the importance
Product prioritisation doesn’t need to be complex.
What has the biggest impact right now against the metrics that matter? What’s our next bet that amplifies this?
I'm not into priorities, I'm into binaries. Not low, medium, high. Or 1,2,3,4,5.
Rather, yes or no. Not or not now. Anything in the middle rounds down to no or not now. Maybe is no or not now.
Here's why:

@JamesMelville What a shocking take for so many reasons. One took a stand against racism and war in the prime of his career and lost his world titles, the other didn’t want to get vaccinated but tried everything to skirt the rules. 🤦🏼♂️
The test of a good EM-PM partnership is not about absolute harmony. Rather, it is the ability to have the necessary tough conversations without any loss of mutual respect, trust, and future candor.
@ilobb1 They might actually run the garden through terror. Are they the ones that dirty Makka Pakkas stones? Did they steal the suspension on the Ninky Nonk? There’s definitely trauma hiding behind the fake smiles of the main characters….
@ilobb1 Do the parents seem bothered when the kids go missing? Never. I want to know more about their blue counterparts though; do they not answer the door because the Pontipines are abusive neighbours? What did they do to be excluded from 99% of episodes? Must know more…
@PMDiegoGranados Always ask others and urself "what exactly is the problem that we are trying to solve here?"
Follow it up with 'why' a couple of times to arrive at the core issue hiding among the symptoms
Most of the time it is not what it seems or what the customer has asked you to do 😊
