Faba going in at the @DAFFgov Long Term Field Trial at Wagga.
Sowing into barley stubble at a rate of 200 kg/ha, depth of 50 mm, with the tine seeder replacing the disc. Interested to see how the beans perform this year!
Thank you to @AuSeednet for supporting the trial!
NVT has just updated its Long Term lentil yield tables and given ALB Dane excellent rankings across SA and VIC. https://t.co/LhX7GdWQw8

@lawbal44@sheepGeekCP if you want to grow a spring milling grain oat variety that has low lignin you have to grow Mitika or Kowari, whereby you are leaving a fair bit of yield on the table, all others are high, except for Koala, at Mod Low it is a good compromise in that respect.
First bit of harvest data coming in for 2025 with a Pulse Variety * Sowing date trial at Caragabal (more or less dry sown). Good to see APB Bondi field peas showing its credentials, could be a handy addition to complement other pulses
Photo taken yesterday, FAR Lentil trial at Yarrawonga, middle strip of the new in 2026 variety “ALB Dane” staying green compared to all the other varieties in the trial, those being, Hallmark, Thunder, Kelpie, Terrier & Lightning.
The @AGF_Seeds Newton winter barley seed crop looking a treat in SW Vic even in a challenging season. Have observed great grazing value to meet winter feed gaps plus very competitive grain yields in HRZ with this dual purpose variety @AuSeednet
Dyna-Trit 1143 awnless triticale heads emerging at Wagin following crop germinating early May. Ideal for grazing, hay/silage or grain with clean green leaves and stems. More herbicide options compared to oats. Crops and trials available to see by request @Dyna_Gro_Seed
New Lentil variety for 2026 “ALB Dane” (ALB2321) at the BCG Main Field Day yesterday. The recent AgVic releases have had a 🐕 naming theme, Kelpie & Terrier, with no real correlation, but not this time, “Great Dane”, big dog & big Lentil.
APB Bondi Kaspa type field pea doing well at Quairading,WA. High yielding with improved disease and virus resistance. Improved rating for Boron and salinity. Expecting good seed supply for 2026 plantings @AuSeednet
ALB Dane is the NEW Imi-tolerant Large Red Lentil for 2026.
Trialled as ALB2321, it has excellent potential for VIC and SA growers.

@GRDC_NVT would like to announce the release of the NVT results for ALB Dane lentil, bred by @VicGovAg!

Frustratingly the story of the season..@AGF_Seeds Newton barley seed crop L late establishment on heavier soils and R quicker establishment on lighter soils showing the typical dense tillering of this variety @AuSeednet
Essentially, what this body of @DPIRDbroadacre research suggests (relative to Bannister):
1. Goldie's N fertiliser package is similar,
2. Koala's N fertiliser package is also similar, but avoid > 100 kg N/ha, and
3. Minnie may benefit from slightly more N.
@DPIRDbroadacre has been evaluating the performance of three new milling oat varieties—Goldie, Koala, and Minnie—to see if they respond differently to fertiliser applied N. The link contains my observations from several years of trialling in WA. https://t.co/dkObHguo7M
⚠️ Yorke Peninsula, SA barley growers: Locally collected net form net blotch #NFNB fungus samples have combined resistance to Groups 3, 7 & 11 fungicides. Resistance also detected at Streatham, Vic.

Oat phenology 🌱
We're running an experiment to help understand:
- how early can we sow oats to minimise risk
- if the critical period for spring oats is different to wheat & barley
- simulating grazing to understand the impact on phenology & biomass @AllanRattey
New Imi-tolerant small red lentil with highest available Ascochyta Blight resistance.
Excellent 2024 yield results across SA Yorke Peninsula and Mid North and VIC Mallee.
