Meta has reportedly restricted/blocked the visibility of PM Narendra Modi's first selfie video on Facebook in India.

If true, this raises a serious question: who gave a foreign platform the authority to limit the reach of India's Prime Minister's message?

Meta must clearly explain why this video was restricted, whether it acted on a legal request, and who made that request.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp operate across India and earn enormous advertising revenue from the Indian market. If they can restrict the Prime Minister's content, ordinary users have every reason to question how secure their own reach and free expression are.

🚨INDIA DROPS BIGGEST PIPEBOMB ON WEST: FCRA Rules Changed Completely, West Paniics

The Government of India has introduced a new amendment to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, proposing one of the most significant changes to the regulation of foreign-funded NGOs in recent years.

The centerpiece of the proposed amendment concerns the ownership of assets created using foreign contributions. Under the new framework, if an NGO, charitable trust, or any registered organization loses its FCRA registration or fails to renew its license, it will no longer retain automatic ownership of assets built with foreign funds. Instead, the transfer, disposal, or continued use of such assets will be governed by a new regulatory mechanism, giving authorities greater oversight over their future management.

According to the government, foreign contributions should not be used to create permanent private assets that remain beyond regulatory scrutiny once an organization ceases to operate under the FCRA. Officials argue that enhanced oversight is necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and the continued use of foreign-funded assets for their intended public purposes.

The proposed amendments have drawn criticism from several NGOs and international advocacy groups, which argue that tighter controls could affect the functioning of charitable and civil society organizations. They contend that independent funding is essential for humanitarian work, education, healthcare, and human rights initiatives.

In response, the government has maintained that regulating foreign funding is a standard practice across many established democracies. It has pointed to laws such as the United States' Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), Australia's Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme, and similar regulatory mechanisms in several European countries as examples of governments monitoring foreign financial influence.
