America’s Obesity Problem Over the Years

In the early 1960s, about 13 percent of American adults were obese. Severe obesity was under 1 percent. Childhood obesity was about 5 percent.
That was a country that still cooked at home, walked more, and had not yet turned breakfast into a science experiment.

By the late 1970s the adult rate was still around 15 percent. Then the climb started and did not stop.
1988–1994: about 23 percent
1999–2000: about 31 percent
2007–2008: about 34 percent
2017–2018: 42.4 percent, the measured peak

Severe obesity went from almost unheard of to nearly 1 in 10 adults. Childhood obesity more than tripled to over 21 percent. By the early 2020s, 4 in 10 adults met the clinical definition. Add overweight and you are talking about most of the country.

This did not happen because Americans suddenly lost willpower in 1985. The food changed. Seed oils and ultra-processed calories took over the aisle. Portion sizes exploded. Kids sat in front of screens. Schools served slop and called it lunch.

We spent $4 trillion a year on “health care” and watched chronic disease eat 90 percent of that bill. Obesity is not a vanity stat. It is diabetes, heart disease, joint failure, and a shorter life.
The first break in the line showed up after 2022. Gallup’s survey rate fell from a high of 39.9 percent in 2022 to 36.4 percent in 2026. CDC’s exam-based NHANES figure eased from 42.4 percent to 40.3 percent in 2021–2023. That is not a miracle. About 1 in 9 adults now take a GLP-1 drug for weight loss. The drop is real. It is also bought, for now, with a weekly injection.

A pill or a shot is not the same as a culture that eats real food, moves, and stops poisoning kids with sugar water. If the only way the chart bends is a $1,000 medication, the country has not fixed the problem. It has rented a pause.

Forty years of getting fatter was a policy failure dressed up as personal failure. The first decline in a generation is a start. It is not the finish. The goal is not a slightly lower BMI on a government slide. The goal is an America that does not need a peptide to walk up the stairs.

DOT is shutting down 110 trucker schools that were stamping the fraud. Since last April they’ve yanked 30,000 illegally issued CDLs. Sidelined 26,000 operators who couldn’t pass English. Yanked 10,000 bogus training shops.

Arizona just arrested 95 illegal-alien truckers. Most of the cards came from California.

Democrats are blocking the bills that would make this permanent. Call it politics if you want. The families who already buried people on the interstate don’t get a debate.

TRUMP JUST BROKE CHINA’S ANTI-DOLLAR OIL TRIANGLE

The old alignment was straightforward: Venezuela supplied enormous oil reserves, Iran supplied sanctioned crude, and China supplied the market, financing and alternative payment channels. Together, they created an energy corridor capable of operating increasingly outside American control.

That structure has now been broken.

The United States has taken control of Venezuela’s oil sales and secured majority control over projects covering more than 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. A new 25-year energy agreement will place American companies at the center of developing 17 strategic fields while seeking to increase Venezuelan production by 1.5 million barrels per day. Venezuela formally retains sovereignty over its resources, but Washington now holds decisive commercial and financial leverage over a major portion of them. Reuters

That is a strategic defeat for Beijing.

China became Venezuela’s leading petroleum customer after American sanctions redirected Venezuelan crude away from the United States. More than half of Venezuela’s exports went to China in 2025. Those discounted barrels supported Chinese refiners while giving Caracas an alternative to the dollar-centered energy market. Reuters

President Trump has now reversed that flow. Venezuelan oil revenue is supervised through a U.S.-controlled system, American refiners are regaining access to the heavy crude they are designed to process, and Venezuelan petroleum will help replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Iran is therefore more isolated.

Tehran can still sell sanctioned oil to China through shadow fleets and opaque financial arrangements, but it has lost Venezuela as a reliable partner in a broader anti-dollar petroleum network. China must now depend more heavily on Iranian and Russian supplies while facing greater exposure to American sanctions, maritime enforcement and supply disruption.

The dollar has not been protected by speeches. It has been protected by changing who controls production, transportation, financing and access to the world’s largest energy market.

Decode Conflict Assessment

Trump did more than remove Maduro and redirect Venezuelan oil. He took one of the world’s largest petroleum reserves out of China’s strategic orbit and placed American capital, technology and financial oversight at the center of its recovery.

China wanted Venezuela, Iran and other sanctioned producers to form an alternative energy system beyond Washington’s reach.

That system has now lost its largest reserve base.

Venezuela is no longer helping China weaken the dollar. Its oil is now strengthening American energy power.
