A DALLAS STARTUP JUST HIT 15.38% ENRICHMENT WITHOUT A SINGLE CENTRIFUGE

SOLID HALEU, NO CENTRIFUGE

· @ActinideInc says it is the first startup in history to produce HALEU, enriching natural uranium on its first-generation calutron to a level an independent ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab assayed at 15.38% U-235.

· Actinide is upfront that the material was made in research quantities under the NRC laboratory-scale exclusion at 10 CFR 70.4, and that it would still need fabrication into rods, pellets, or particles before a reactor could use it.

· Because electromagnetic separation yields solid product directly, Actinide's process bypasses the UF6 deconversion step where the United States has zero commercial capacity and where DOE contracted six companies in 2024 to build one.

· The same machine was producing enriched ytterbium-176 for Oklo Isotopes weeks earlier, and CTO Robert Mendelsohn says the machines cost a few hundred thousand dollars and can be reconfigured for a different isotope in a matter of days.

Seven years of prototyping, a separator they designed and built themselves, material sold to a customer, and then HALEU, in that order, is an unusually disciplined sequence for hardware in this sector. The most interesting part may not be the uranium at all, since a machine that sells pharmaceutical isotopes today does not need to win the HALEU market to survive the wait for it.
