A "hole" in the NGC 1999 nebula! 🌌
For a long time, this dark region was thought to be a dense clump of dust blocking visible light.
❕However, it is now believed to be a genuine void—a hole in the nebula likely punched out by jets from young stars.
It takes telescope teamwork to get the full picture of ZwCl 0024+1652!
This galaxy cluster is located about 9.5 million light-years away. The glowing blue and red light here shows data from Hubble and @ChandraXRay ⬇️
The Horsehead Nebula! ✨
It is part of the Orion Cloud—a vast stellar nursery of gas and dust spanning hundreds of light-years.
The reddish glow comes from plasma—ionized hydrogen—while the dark "head" itself is a concentration of cosmic dust.
Crew chats, Moon trees, and good vibes at JSC. 🌕🌳✨
Johnson Space Center welcomed the @NASAArtemis II crew, @NASA leadership, and employees for a celebration of the mission’s journey around the Moon. The event included a crew Q&A with Flight Director Rick Henfling, recognition of Mission Control and JSC teams who supported operations from Houston, and the dedication of a second‑generation Apollo Moon Tree on campus — a moment that brought the community together to honor Artemis II and its legacy.
