“Dr B R Ambedkar and Jawaharlal Nehru gave us the right to vote at a time when many Indians did not even know what elections were. In 1951, how many people understood fundamental rights, voting, the Lok Sabha or the Vidhan Sabha? Their greatness lay in ensuring people had these rights even before they fully understood them.”: CJP's Abhijeet Dipke at Mumbai Protest

Why did people turn up to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar?
In this interaction from ground coverage, a protester explains why the controversy surrounding the Election Commission matters to them personally.
“I think the system is broken,” the protester says, arguing that the Election Commission must remain unbiased in order to conduct fair elections. The speaker raises concerns about what they perceive as political partisanship within institutions and connects those concerns to a broader lack of accountability.
The protester points to issues such as problems in the education system and restrictions placed on women, arguing that people need to speak up even on seemingly basic questions of accountability and individual freedom.

Representation of People Act
